The State of Connecticut, Department of Administrative Services ( DAS (https://portal.ct.gov/DAS) ), Bureau of Information Technology Solutions (DAS-BITS) is accepting applications from current state employees for a Technical Support Supervisor (Information Technology Supervisor) (https://www.jobapscloud.com/CT/specs/classspecdisplay.asp?ClassNumber=7606FR&R1=&R3=) in service of the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services ( DMHAS (https://portal.ct.gov/DMHAS) ). The Department of Mental Health and Addictions (DMHAS) has 10 major locations throughout the state of CT. We have locations in many major cities in CT, including Hartford, Middletown, Bridgeport, New Haven, and Waterbury. The primary work location for this position is in Middletown CT, but there may be travel to the other locations.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
+ Full time, 40 hours per week
+ Monday through Friday schedule
+ Standard hours 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, includes half-hour lunch

THE ROLE
The Technical Support Supervisor will supervise desktop support and service desk technicians for Middletown and other locations and will directly oversee operations for workforce enablement staff in the Device Support Unit.
Other responsibilities include:
+ Track, measure, and evaluate staff performance as well as the responsiveness and efficiency of day-to-day technical support.
+ Lead all technical infrastructure enhancements, infrastructure upgrades and equipment replacements due to end of life (EOL).
+ Track software license installations, software license maintenance, and the test and maintenance of a disaster recovery plan.
+ Handle the computer hardware platform and phone systems to avoid service disruption.
+ Repair any technical issues immediately, in coordination with the IT Manager, to maintain optimal performance.
+ Ensure that the appropriate skilled resources are in place to meet required service levels, and provide technical support and mentorship to IT operation support staff.
+ Provide input to IT related capital and operation budgets.
+ Share opportunities to simplify IT services through continuous improvement initiatives.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state agency major Information Technology (IT) operational environment this class is accountable for supervising staff and overseeing the planning, analysis, design, selection, installation and implementation of information systems and applications.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
+ Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews the work of staff;
+ Provides staff training and assistance;
+ Conducts performance evaluations;
+ Determines priorities and plans unit work;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Nine (9) years of experience in information technology (IT) operations, programming, systems/software development or IT related support area.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of the General Experience must have been performing advanced technical level duties or as a working supervisor in such areas as: designing, configuring and implementing complex networks; configuring, installing and upgrading host based applications packages and host and/or operating system software; system software/application development, performing any closely related advanced technical function.
NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of an Information Technology Analyst 3.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
+ College training in management information systems, computer science or information technology related area may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
+ A Master's degree in management information systems, computer science or electrical engineering may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Experience with hardware and software life cycle management.
+ Experience managing staff in a hybrid environment.
+ Experience with Microsoft cloud services environment (O365, SharePoint, and Azure).
+ Experience with implementing and maintaining Service Level Agreements.
+ Experience with Windows 11.
