    POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

    + Full time | 35 hours

    + Monday through Friday

    + First shift, 8:30am - 4:30pm

    THE ROLE:

    We are seeking an experienced professional with a background in public education, educational measurement, big-data processing, statistics, data science, and research methods to support the critical work of the Performance Office. Under the direction of the Chief Performance Officer, the individual will work collaboratively with colleagues on a wide range of tasks including some of the following:

     

    + Validate and clean source data from CT-Special Education System (CT-SEDS), Due Process, and Early Childhood Outcomes files

    + Merge special education, student exit, early childhood, student discipline, and other relevant data sets accurately for analysis purposes

    + Conduct analysis and prepare reports that inform accountability monitoring, and comply with state and federal reporting requirements

    + Support the data needs of the CSDE to inform policy and decision-making

    + Collaborate with colleagues to transition individual analytic code into data warehouse jobs

    + Create automated processes, where feasible, to produce federal EdFacts data files

    + Develop interactive reports through EdSight for special education reporting

    + Extract and prepare data for external data requesters to support audit and evaluation needs

    PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

    In the Departments of Aging and Disability Services, Education, and the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System assists in planning and executing programs of extensive difficulty and scope for the improvement of education in the state.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    + Assists a Bureau Chief or Education Consultant in supervising various educational programs and services offered by the state;

    + Assists in the development and administration of certain programs of major importance or may develop and administer other programs within the framework of bureau policy;

    + Provides professional leadership and guidance to school authorities, professional organizations, students and various community groups and individuals;

    + May assist in directing the routine functioning of the bureau;

    + Performs related duties as required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

    + Considerable knowledge of the philosophy and methods of education with particular reference to the field concerned;

    + Teaching skill;

    + Ability to

    + prepare reports;

    + deal effectively with others.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

    An earned advanced degree and five (5) years of professional experience OR in lieu thereof an equivalent combination of experience and training as approved by the appropriate Board and/or appointing authority.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    + Experience utilizing Statistical Analysis Software (SAS) tools to analyze data.

    + Experience writing data queries that merge multiple large datasets.

    + Experience conducting validation of query results.

    + Experience summarizing results into reports, presentations, or interactive visualizations.

    + Experience meeting deadlines with competing priorities.

    + Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    Incumbents in this class in certain positions may be required to possess an appropriate certificate issued by State Board of Education.
