Supplier Development Quality Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Engineer for Supplier Development Quality. The ideal candidate should possess an engineering degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, although other engineering disciplines are also acceptable. This role requires 3-6 years of work experience, with at least one year specifically in supplier quality engineering.
Responsibilities
+ Drive improvement and corrective actions in the quality of components sourced from outside suppliers.
+ Provide technical support in the selection of suppliers and develop acceptance criteria for materials.
+ Monitor supplier performance to drive corrective action for manufacturing yield issues and field failures.
+ Assess potential new suppliers for technical quality and manufacturing capabilities.
+ Provide technical support for the introduction of components from a new supplier.
+ Generate and maintain incoming inspection procedures and train inspectors to these procedures.
+ Develop and/or source inspection tools and equipment.
+ Generate test protocols, monitor testing, issue qualification test reports, and approve components for use in products.
+ Provide input to Design Engineering on new component technology and assist in component selection with quality and reliability analysis.
+ Analyze incoming material defects, disposition them, and drive corrective action as necessary.
+ Communicate issues to suppliers and review new design specifications, providing input from a component quality and manufacturability perspective.
+ Investigate field failures related to supplier materials and develop corrective action plans where necessary.
+ Perform this job in a quality system environment, as failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
+ May lead a project team of moderate scope and provide guidance to less experienced staff.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
+ 3-6 years of related work experience with at least one year in supplier quality engineering.
+ Good understanding of supplier quality, technical quality, and manufacturing capabilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Strong analytical skills for analyzing material defects and field failures.
+ Experience in developing inspection tools and equipment.
+ Ability to train and guide less experienced staff.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Atlanta, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
