    Job Description

    The Embedded Systems Engineer will be responsible for performing, planning, developing, evaluating, and analyzing electrical engineering design tasks and projects. The primary focus will be on embedded programming and circuit design for instrumentation, control electronics, and motor controls. The ideal candidate should have proficiency in Texas Instrument microprocessor software design, industrial microcontrollers, digital signal processors, real-time and bare metal programming techniques, electronics design, and manufacturing. The role involves creating engineering solutions that meet programmatic objectives, considering cost, schedule, and technical requirements.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in C++, Visual Basic, or Texas Instrument software.

    + Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

    + Ability to obtain Secret Clearance.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Preferred)

    + 3+ years of experience in embedded systems design.

    + Electric motor design controls experience.

    + Knowledge of standard industrial plant electrical distribution systems and associated national electrical codes and regulations.

    + Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as UL, IEEE, NEC, ANSI, OSHA, NUREGS.

    Responsibilities

    + Deploy new machine control electronics and motor drive electronics for development, testing, and manufacturing activities.

    + Provide electrical engineering support by preparing design requirements, development plans, statements of work, equipment specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.

    + Manage multiple projects including manufacturing of electronics and in-house testing.

    + Plan, develop, and implement electrical instrumentation and control systems and design modifications incorporating various electrical components.

    + Perform technical reviews, troubleshooting, and day-to-day technical support for the design of a centrifuge plant.

    + Collaborate effectively with other design disciplines or outside engineering firms to accomplish successful design completion.

    + Accomplish complex and unusual electrical engineering assignments on schedule and on budget.

    + Develop design requirements, lead projects, and mentor other engineers.

    + Prepare bills of material, cost estimates, and specifications for procurement of materials and equipment.

    + Interact with other business units and regulatory bodies, such as the US Department of Energy and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

     

    Work Environment

     

    The position is based in an on-site manufacturing environment in Oak Ridge, TN with periodic travel to Piketon, OH, expected to be less than 10%.
