A precision machining company in the Cincinnati area is seeking a skilled ProtoTRAK Lathe Operator to join its first-shift team. This position involves full setup and operation of ProtoTRAK lathes in both manual and CNC modes, including conversational programming, tooling changes, and producing high-quality parts to print. The ideal candidate will have strong machining experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a clean, organized shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
+ Perform complete setup and operation of ProtoTRAK lathes, both manual and CNC.
+ Use conversational programming to write simple programs directly at the machine.
+ Select appropriate tooling for drilling, tapping, cut-off, and turning operations.
+ Control feeds and speeds to produce accurate parts while minimizing secondary operations.
+ Produce parts from raw material to print or company specifications, ensuring clean and burr-free finishes.
+ Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
+ Inspect parts using precision measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
+ Perform routine cleaning and maintenance; follow lockout/tagout procedures.
+ Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies related to attendance, labor reporting, and housekeeping.
+ Operate additional machines as required by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
+ Experience operating and programming ProtoTRAK lathes (manual and CNC).
+ Ability to write conversational programs at the machine.
+ Strong blueprint reading and inspection skills.
+ Knowledge of tooling selection and machining fundamentals.
+ Ability to work independently and maintain accuracy with minimal oversight.
+ Physical ability to bend, stoop, stand, walk, and lift light materials throughout the shift.
