The Engineering Test Technician is instrumental in the development, assembly, and validation of prototype hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, and electrical systems. This role is pivotal in transforming new product concepts into reality by working directly on prototype assembly, testing, and documentation under the guidance of engineers and supervisors. Collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams, the technician ensures that prototypes and tests meet functional, performance, and safety standards. Additionally, the role involves contributing to process improvements, maintaining laboratory standards, and implementing new testing technologies.
Responsibilities
+ Build prototype components, assemblies, and systems such as hydraulic manifolds and integrated hydraulic/electronic assemblies according to engineering documentation.
+ Assist in interpreting drawings, schematics, and instructions to ensure accurate prototype builds.
+ Work with engineers to identify and resolve assembly or design issues during prototype fabrication.
+ Set up and conduct performance and validation tests for prototype and customer systems.
+ Operate hydraulic and electro-hydraulic test benches, instrumentation, and data acquisition equipment.
+ Collect, record, and report test data accurately; assist engineers in analyzing test results.
+ Ensure safe testing procedures and maintain awareness of pressure, fluid, and electrical safety standards.
+ Document build and test procedures, results, and any deviations observed during testing.
+ Support the development and implementation of new test procedures, fixtures, and tools.
+ Assist with engineering change documentation, prototype part tracking, and PDM/ERP entries as directed.
+ Work closely with design, applications, and manufacturing engineers to support prototype builds and testing activities.
+ Assist assembly and machining teams with troubleshooting and process improvements.
+ Support quality assurance activities, including containment, rework, and verification testing.
+ Occasionally support customer site visits for testing, troubleshooting, or repair activities.
+ Perform preventive maintenance and calibration on test equipment and related systems.
+ Assist in identifying and procuring new test equipment and technologies to improve capability and efficiency.
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe engineering test environment.
+ Maintain compliance with company policies, ISO, OSHA, and AWAIR standards.
+ Uphold the company’s mission, vision, and core values in all interactions.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned to support business and engineering needs.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with fluid power, hydraulics, manifolds, electrical and mechanical systems.
+ Ability to troubleshoot, prototype, and validate systems.
+ Proficiency with ERP systems.
+ Vo-tech certificate or Associate’s degree in Fluid Power, Mechatronics, or related technical field.
+ 1–3 years of experience in a testing, assembly, or prototype environment.
+ Basic proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
+ Familiarity with hydraulic circuits, electrical schematics, and data acquisition systems.
+ Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and common engineering applications.
+ Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Valid driver’s license, ability to drive independently, and maintain a safe driving record.
+ Ability to travel up to 15%.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Lake, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
