The Geotechnical Engineer is integral to designing and implementing engineering solutions that bolster mining operations and strategic objectives. The role centers on projects related to clay disposal, dragline crossings, infrastructure corridors, and other geotechnical aspects of mining. The position demands regular collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineers, regulatory bodies, mine operators, and leadership.
Responsibilities
+ Lead the development of preliminary and detailed designs for mining and geotechnical infrastructure projects that align with operational goals.
+ Gather, analyze, and communicate technical data and engineering recommendations to internal teams and external stakeholders.
+ Conduct and review engineering analyses addressing soil mechanics, structural systems (concrete and steel), and water management challenges.
+ Collaborate with consulting engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure timely and effective delivery of engineering solutions.
+ Ensure all projects comply with applicable federal regulations (MSHA, USACE, NPDES), Florida DEP Rules 62-672, and county permit conditions.
+ Work closely with internal departments to ensure engineering designs meet regulatory and operational requirements.
+ Assist in the operation and monitoring of civil infrastructure throughout mining sites.
+ Apply sound engineering judgment to evaluate design alternatives, balancing risk, cost, and schedule considerations.
Essential Skills
+ Strong background in geotechnical engineering, design, and construction oversight specific to mining projects.
+ Familiarity with permitting processes, environmental and safety regulations, and water management practices in mining.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint.
+ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
+ Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, consultants, and stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mining Engineering.
+ Experience as a mine engineer, regulatory professional, or engineering consultant within the mining industry.
+ Must have EIT or be on the path to obtaining PE.
+ Preferred qualifications include graduate-level coursework, professional engineering licensure, and experience in project management and construction monitoring.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
