MEP/I&C Engineer – Safety Specialist - RNG Industry

Position Overview
We are seeking a MEP / I&C Engineer – Safety Specialist to support our Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) projects. In this role, you will be responsible for the integration and performance of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) systems, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and operational efficiency. From design through commissioning and operation, your expertise will help ensure that systems are functional, compliant, and optimized for performance.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with industrial automation, process instrumentation, and energy systems, along with a strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance. Safety & Compliance
+ Serve as a safety champion, ensuring designs and operations meet OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, and relevant industry standards.
+ Conduct safety risk assessments and participate in HAZOP and PSSR reviews.
+ Implement best practices for lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash, confined space, and hazardous area classification.
+ Support development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training for operations staff.
+ Work Permits: Issue - Verify - Close.
+ Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
+ Work cross-functionally with EPC contractors, utilities, and regulatory agencies.
+ Identify opportunities for energy optimization, emissions reduction, and cost savings.
+ Maintain as-built documentation and manage changes through the engineering change process.
+ Mentor junior engineers and support technical training initiatives.
Education/Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls, or related field is a plus.
+ Significant practical experience in the oil and gas sector showing strong technical ability may be accepted instead of a degree.
+ PE license or EIT certification preferred.
+ 5+ years of engineering experience in industrial process systems — ideally within Renewable Natural Gas, biogas, waste-to-energy, or oil & gas.
+ Proven experience with PLC/SCADA programming, electrical power distribution, or MEP systems is a big plus.
+ Demonstrated leadership in safety management and compliance-based environments.
Technical Skills:
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks (for MEP) and/or PLC/SCADA systems such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Ignition is a big plus. Or similar systems.
+ Working knowledge of NFPA, NEC, ISA, and API standards.
+ Familiarity with renewable gas upgrading technologies (membrane, PSA, water wash, etc.) is a plus.

Salary range: $125k to $155k
