Job Title: Sandblast Operator

Job Description

Join our team as a Sandblast Operator, where you will be responsible for preparing surfaces for painting by utilizing air-powered sandblasting equipment, grinders, needle guns, and various hand/power tools. Your role will involve inspecting items, removing weld splatter, excess welds, and sharp edges to ensure parts or trailers are ready for painting. Additionally, you will mark miswelds and other quality defects and may occasionally operate a forklift to move materials around the shop.

Responsibilities

+ Perform paint preparation duties using sandblasting equipment and power tools.

+ Inspect and clean surfaces to remove weld splatter and sharp edges.

+ Mark miswelds and quality defects on trailers.

+ Operate a forklift to move materials when needed.

Essential Skills

+ 1+ year of grinding/prepping experience in an industrial setting

+ Proficiency in sandblasting, production, and paint preparation tasks

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in reading blueprints is a plus

Work Environment

Work the first shift in a fab shop setting. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including hearing protection, safety glasses, safety boots with metatarsal guards, face shield, and potentially a respirator. The team-focused environment encourages teamwork and camaraderie.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Benton Harbor, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
