    Sheet Metal Installer - North Island, Coronado

    Job Description

    + We are seeking a skilled Metal Installer with extensive experience in the installation and construction of ship components. This role involves installing bulkheads, ceiling panels, doors, trim, windows, rails, and hardware, as well as participating in related construction activities on Navy ships. The Metal Installer will work closely with large sheet metal pieces, valves, and bulkheads and must adhere to Navy Standards, utilizing blueprints for guidance.

    Responsibilities

    + Install bulkheads, ceiling panels, doors, trim, windows, rails, and hardware on Navy ships.

    + Assist in the installation of insulation for compartment floors, ceilings, and walls.

    + Work with Tac welding and large sheet-metal pieces for initial placement before full welding.

    + Read and interpret blueprints to guide installation and assembly processes.

    + Fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair various sheet metal products including ventilation systems, housings, metal partitions, and more.

    + Operate metalworking machines and use precision instruments for fabrication.

    + Verify the conformance of fabricated items to blueprint specifications.

    Essential Skills

    + Installation of bulkheads, ceiling panels, doors, and windows.

    + Experience with shipyard operations and sheet metal fabrication.

    + Ability to read and understand blueprints for layout, assembly, and installation.

    + Knowledge of tools and equipment used in the sheet metal trade.

    + Understanding of shop mathematics and principles.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Minimum of 3+ years of marine experience, preferably with sheet metal habitability.

    + Previous experience on CVN Class Navy ships is preferred.

    + Familiarity with ship repair work and custom fabrication of ship components.

    Work Environment

    + The work is performed at various shipyard facilities in San Diego, CA, including Nassco, BAE, CMSD, North Island, and the Naval Base on 32nd Street.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
