OVERVIEW
Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks a Designer to join the Cut + Sew Team based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters.
RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Lead the design and development of innovative and original cut and sew designs that align with the Marc Jacobs brand aesthetic.
+ Research global trends, techniques, and innovations to create forward-thinking design
+ Collaborate closely with design leadership and other category designers to translate seasonal concepts into original designs with a focus on innovative fabrication, construction, and modern proportion
+ Work in both 2D and 3D, draping and sketching to develop and visualize design ideas through mockups and prototypes
+ Collaborate with Graphics team to blend print, artwork, and silhouette into a unified visual story within cut + sew
+ Work cross-functionally with Product Development and Technical Design to finalize fabric choices, materials, and color execution
+ Create detailed technical sketches and tech packs to clearly communicate design intent, fabrication, and construction details
+ Oversee fittings, providing thoughtful design input to ensure integrity of fit, proportion, and aesthetic
+ Curate and style looks for internal presentations and style outs that align with seasonal concepts and Marc Jacobs brand aesthetic
+ Manage multiple projects and deadlines within the design calendar while maintaining creative integrity and attention to detail
+ Collaborate closely with design director and other category designers to ensure a unified point of view across the collection
+ Matina organized and up-to-date boards, reference libraries, and PLM data to support efficient workflow
+ Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation in design and development practices
QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field
+ 4-6 years of experience in fashion design, with a strong background in cut + sew
+ Excellent understanding of fit, drape, and construction for cut + sew garments
+ Exceptional taste level and brand awareness
+ Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD sketching
+ Experience working in PLM systems (Centric preferred)
+ Knowledge of fabric development, finishing, and sourcing processes
+ Excellent organizational, time management, communication, and presentation skills
+ Ability to balance creative direction with commercial and production realities
SALARY & BENEFITS
The compensation for this position ranges from $85,000 - $95,000 annually. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidate’s relevant skills and experience. Marc Jacobs uses the published salary range as a guideline to provide our employees with market competitive pay while allowing for flexibility to recognize and reward all levels of expertise, performance, and tenure.
