Description of Duties:
The Institute for Traffic Safety Management & Research (ITSMR) is seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding writing and editing skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent oral communication, and a sharp eye for detail for a critical position.
A major responsibility of this role is to assist the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee and the Traffic Records Coordinating Council (TRCC) in preparing and implementing New York's Traffic Records Strategic Plan. The TRCC is a multi-agency group of state personnel responsible for managing New York's core traffic record systems. This position will work closely with the current TRCC coordinator in preparation for assuming full responsibility for the coordinator role.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Providing administrative support to the TRCC chair.
+ Coordinating the operation of the TRCC.
+ Assisting with the development, implementation, and maintenance of the State Traffic Records Strategic Plan and the Traffic Records Systems Inventory Report.
+ Serving as a liaison between New York State agencies, traffic safety partners, and the U.S. DOT on traffic safety-related issues.
+ Coordinating with multiple stakeholders to collect, synthesize, and incorporate data and other required content into final reports.
+ Providing professional writing, editing, and formatting to ensure all documents are polished, clear, and well-organized.
+ Ensuring that all reports are accurate, complete, and compliant with federal standards and guidelines.
+ Regularly updating and maintaining project documentation to reflect the most current and relevant information.
Additionally, this position is responsible for assisting the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee in preparing New York's Highway Safety Plan, Annual Grant Application, and Annual Report. These documents are essential for securing federal highway safety grant funding and require collaboration across multiple teams over an extended period.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
+ A Bachelor's degree in business administration, communication, sociology, public administration, or a related field AND three years of relevant professional experience OR an Associate's degree in the fields indicated AND a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
+ Demonstrated experience interpreting data and drawing actionable insights, as evidenced by work products such as reports, dashboards, or presentations.
+ Documented experience coordinating or facilitating meetings, committees, or projects involving multiple stakeholders or agencies.
+ Proven ability to produce clear, concise, and well-structured written materials, such as reports, research briefs, grant applications, or policy summaries.
+ Excellent oral communication skills.
+ Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage complex, multi-part documents and ensure timely completion of required reports.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills: Evidence of identifying issues and implementing solutions in prior roles, such as process improvements, workflow changes, or project outcomes.
+ Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, error-free deliverables and ensure data or report quality.

Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience facilitating or hosting interagency or multi-stakeholder meetings.
+ Experience working with traffic records systems or in traffic safety-related programs.
+ Experience preparing federal grant applications and/or performance reports.
+ Experience with professional report design and publishing software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Canva, or advanced Word/Publisher templates) to produce visually polished reports and dashboards.
+ Experience creating infographics, charts, and digital visualizations that communicate key findings in a clear and professional manner.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $75,000-$90,000
