    Job Description:

    The Business application tier utilizes MicroFocus Visual COBOL running under IIS on MS Windows 2022 servers. This assignment will support development of new business functions and troubleshooting, modification, and enhancement of existing functions in this environment within the existing SCDMV application framework. Projects may include business logic supporting on-line systems, batch programming, data extraction, and reports involving all SCDMV business areas. This engineer will work closely and will be involved with both the UI tiers which are MS .NET applications (VB.NET, C#.NET) and the database tiers in both SQL and ORACLE. production trouble shooting support will be expected so some level of production support experience is required. This contractor will be expected to work with minimal supervision, will be in direct contact with business area specialists, develop technical approaches and designs, code, test, and support these functions. Communications skills must be excellent.

    Responsibilities:

    + Analyze the scdmv phoenix ii, web service, and batch business applications

    + Take the lead in analyzing and trouble-shooting assigned system problems

    + Propose solutions

    + Code, test, promote, and interact with impacted users ensuring that solution meets requirements.

    + Provide daily and weekly status to the development manager.

    Required Skills:

    + Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related discipline with eight years of experience. Ten-years of experience without bachelors degree acceptable.

    + 8 to 10 years of full stack system development in a complex and mission critical three-tier system development environment spanning COBOL, .Net, Web/Mobile, Oracle and MS SQL Server.

    + Strong DevSecOps skills and familiarity including formal release management processes, comprehensive testing (not just Happy Path), and strong collaboration and coaching skills.

    + COBOL development with MICROFOCUS Visual COBOL using Visual Studio 2019/2022 in Windows Server 2022 under IIS. (MICROFOCUS Visual COBOL V7, V9, or higher strongly preferred)

    + Application programming against RDBMS (Oracle, MS SQL Server).

    + Accessing Oracle and MS SQL Server enterprise databases from within the programming (COBOL) platform.

    + Crafting SQL statements to support required system functionality.

    Preferred Skills:

    + Visual Studio 2019 and higher – Debugging

    + Microsoft Team Foundation Server

    + Microsoft C# .NET

    + SQL for Oracle DB and MS SQL Server

    + IIS configuration/setup

    + MicroFocus certifications

    + DevSecOps certifications

    Required Certifications:

    + Not required but MS technical certifications will be factored in the selection process.

    + Microfocus certifications are a significant advantage
