Description
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for leading and coordinating international trade operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations for import and export moves. This role involves working closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal departments to ensure the timely and most appropriate movement of goods across international borders, as well as supporting the warehouse functions on-site.
Key Performance Indicators
Efficient and accurate shipments (OTIF)
Compliance with regulations and legislation, as it relates to the transport of goods domestically and internationally.
Customs delays and related remedies.
Reporting with consistency and accuracy.
Freight cost decisions based on business needs and budget expectations.
Adherence to all company compliance requirements.
Key Accountabilities
To organize and review the prompt shipment of Sinclair products and materials, utilizing approved carriers and the most appropriate mode of transport, to meet or exceed internal and external customers’ delivery expectations and Sinclair’s business needs.
Coordinate the import and export of goods, including scheduling shipments, preparing documentation, and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
Monitor changes in international trade laws and regulations and provide recommendations for compliance.
Gather and analyze logistics data to assess current state and opportunities for future improvements.
Research logistics issues to identify potential problems and preemptively address them.
Address routine and unexpected disruptions in the supply chain to keep product moving.
Support the timely and accurate movement of materials, components, and finished goods within the warehouse to ensure continuous support of production operations.
Perform duties related to receiving and shipping machines, machine parts, spares, laminate, labels, inks, and other commodities as required.
Full adherence to all processes and procedures and the maintenance and upkeep of all respective order and shipment records.
Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the department, as it relates to planning, shipping, receiving and compliance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and review shipping documents, ensuring accurate classification of goods, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of trade agreements and tariffs.
Monitor shipments, resolve issues related to customs clearance, and ensure that all import and export activities are conducted in a timely and cost-effective manner, and in accordance with company policies and government regulations.
Gather and analyze logistics data to assess and report on multiple steps of the shipment process.
Create and maintain databases and/or spreadsheets with logistics data for reporting and compliance.
Responsible for the development and implementation of logistics KPI’s and provide recommendations to the team for improvements and enhancements to processes.
Develop, implement and maintain a customs compliance program.
Responsible for the freight bill payment process, coding and auditing of shipments, to ensure accurate and timely vendor payments.
Oversee the carrier freight claim process to ensure timely submission and completion of all claims.
Prioritize and plan shipments with reference to production schedules, production management, customer service, various departments and colleagues to meet agreed upon customer ship dates.
Process sales orders, dispatch and shipping documentation via Sinclair’s ERP system and other associated software, carrier specific systems, and manually generated documents, as required.
Timely communication regarding shipment issues such as shortages, overages, or damaged goods for resolution.
Act as backup for the Logistics Manager, supports Logistics Coordinator and/or Logistics Clerk workload, as needed.

3+ years of experience and knowledge of
international import/export practices,
including knowledge of tariff schedules and
Harmonized System (HS) codes.
Experience in supply chain or logistics.
Vendor management experience, such as carriers, forwarders and 3PL’s
Experience with transactional work in ERP systems.
Experience with JD Edwards ERP system
Experience with continuous improvement and/or project management
Previous experience with query database functionality (power BI, SQL)
Bilingual in Spanish

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fresno, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $95000.00/hr.
