Senior /Lead Consultant – Market Data Engineer (LSEG/Refinitiv Infrastructure, Cloud Migration)

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Market Data Engineer to own and evolve our LSEG/Refinitiv data feed infrastructure and related codebase. The successful candidate will lead the migration of on-premises feed infrastructure to the cloud, design scalable feed delivery solutions, and partner with analytics teams to ensure data content and delivery meet business requirements. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with significant interaction across engineering, analytics, and governance teams.

What you’ll do

• Own, maintain, and evolve the existing market data feed infrastructure and related codebase (LSEG/Refinitiv ecosystem; Elektron SDK, Real-Time feeds, content delivery pipelines).

• Lead cloud migration efforts for market data infrastructure (architecture design, migration plan, cost and risk assessment, security controls, and rollout).

• Architect and implement scalable, low-latency feed delivery pipelines that meet latency, reliability, and SLAs for downstream analytics, risk, and trading workflows.

• Collaborate with analytics teams to understand data content needs (fields, instrument coverage, reference data, tick history), translate requirements into data products, and ensure data quality and lineage.

• Develop and maintain data dictionaries, data models, metadata, and transformation logic as part of data content governance.

• Implement monitoring, observability, alerting, and incident response for feed pipelines and cloud infrastructure.

• Drive CI/CD processes and infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Git, GitHub Actions, Terraform/CloudFormation, and container orchestration (Kubernetes).

• Ensure security and compliance controls appropriate for financial data (access controls, encryption, audit logs, regulatory considerations such as MiFID II, FINRA where applicable).

• Mentor and coach junior engineers; perform code reviews, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.

• Produce design documents, runbooks, and technical documentation; present to stakeholders and leadership.

• Act as a liaison with LSEG/Refinitiv support and services for integration, optimization, and issue resolution.

Role-specific success criteria (90-day plan)

• Complete an assessment of current LSEG/Refinitiv feed infrastructure and map to a cloud migration plan.

• Define latency, reliability, and data content targets with analytics stakeholders.

• Implement a pilot cloud-based feed pathway or a minimal viable migration for one feed and demonstrate stability and observability.

• Establish governance for data content, metadata, and quality checks; deliver a runbook and first set of dashboards/alerts.

• Complete initial security/compliance review and align with enterprise standards.

• Document and socialize a clear migration roadmap with milestones and owners.

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in market data engineering, data platforms, or equivalent technical leadership roles.

• Deep experience with LSEG/Refinitiv infrastructure and feed solutions (e.g., Elektron SDK/SDK-based feeds, Refinitiv Real-Time, Data Platform, or related feed delivery capabilities).

• Proven track record building, operating, and migrating market data feed solutions (low-latency streaming, tick data, reference data content).

• Strong programming skills in one or more of Python, Java, with solid scripting abilities (bash/sh).

• Cloud platform experience (AWS) with data pipelines, streaming services (Kafka/Kinesis), and object storage (S3/Equivalent).

• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes).

• Proficiency with CI/CD and infrastructure as code (Git-based workflows, Terraform, CloudFormation).

• Solid understanding of data content and modeling for market data (instruments, fields, reference data, corporate actions, intraday vs. historical data).

• Strong collaboration skills: proven ability to work with analytics teams to elicit requirements and translate them into data products.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.

• Eligible to work in the United States (US-based role); open to remote or hybrid arrangements.

Preferred qualifications

• Prior consulting or client-facing experience.

• Hands-on experience with Refinitiv Elektron SDK in production environments.

• Experience migrating on-premises market data infrastructure to cloud

• Knowledge of data processing frameworks (Spark, Flink) and streaming architectures.

• Understanding of financial data governance, compliance requirements, and risk data architecture.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $100.00/hr.
