    *This is a benefit-eligible, full-time position (72 hours every two weeks), working 12-hour day shifts on various days and located at Scripps Green Hospital (Torrey Pines) in the Bone Marrow Transplant unit.*

    The ideal candidate will be someone who demonstrates a high level of compassion for their patients, and a strong desire to develop relationships and create connections. Working in our Bone Marrow Transplant department, you will assist with daily patient care, routinely checking vital signs, and ambulating patients. A high level of attention to infection control will be key as all patients are immune-suppressed. On this 24 bed unit, the department will see an average of 15 – 18 patients while the Patient Care Assistant will be assigned to an average of 8 patients per day.

    The general duties of the Patient Care Assistant include:

    * Provides excellent service to patients as a key member of the clinical care team

    * Assists patients with personal needs and activities of daily living, collects data, and ensures the patient has a safe, organized environment

    * Assists with patient care within the scope permitted and under the direction of a clinician

    * Supports the unit with a variety of patient logistic, clerical, equipment/supply, and charge reconciliation duties

    *Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:*

    * One year of recent experience working under the license of an licensed healthcare provider OR current enrollment or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school OR current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals

    * Must be able to speak, read and follow instruction in English

    * Excellent interpersonal skills with a service aptitude

    * American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider

    * Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certifications:* :

    * CNA certification

    * Multiple patient care skills preferred

    * Preferred one-year acute care experience
