About the role
As a Google Cloud Architect, you’ll make an impact by transforming healthcare through secure, scalable, and innovative cloud solutions. Your work will directly contribute to improving patient outcomes, enhancing data accessibility, and supporting digital innovation across critical healthcare systems. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to design architectures that are not only technically robust but also compliant with healthcare industry standards like HIPAA and GDPR, ensuring data privacy and trust at every level. You will be a valued member of the Cloud Infrastructure and Security team and work collaboratively with the Engagement Delivery Lead.
In this role, you will
+ Design and implement scalable, high-performing cloud architectures using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to support healthcare data and application modernization.
+ Partner with engineering, security, and business teams to build integrated cloud solutions that align with organizational goals and drive better healthcare outcomes.
+ Build and maintain secure Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to protect sensitive healthcare data and maintain seamless connectivity.
+ Implement and manage Identity and Access Management (IAM) frameworks to strengthen security, control access, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
+ Utilize the Cloud Foundation Toolkit to automate deployments and simplify infrastructure management while maintaining consistency and control.
+ Configure and maintain VPC Service Controls to safeguard protected health information (PHI) and ensure secure data flow.
+ Optimize Compute Engine and other GCP resources for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency across clinical and business systems.
+ Deploy and manage Cloud Load Balancing to ensure continuous availability and smooth performance during high-traffic healthcare operations.
+ Monitor infrastructure performance, proactively address issues, and minimize downtime to ensure reliability across critical systems.
+ Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, fostering collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement.
+ Stay current on emerging Google Cloud and healthcare technology trends, recommending innovations that improve system efficiency and patient care.
+ Document architecture decisions, deployment frameworks, and best practices to support transparency and scalability.
+ Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand healthcare business needs and translate them into effective, secure cloud solutions.
Work model
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Norfolk, VA. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance though our various wellbeing programs.

What you need to have to be considered
+ 8+ years of experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) architecture and operations
+ Strong proficiency in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline management
+ Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or Cloud Foundation Toolkit
+ Solid understanding of network architecture design, including VPNs, VPCs, and load balancing
These will help you stand out
+ Experience with application and data security integration, including compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, and healthcare regulatory frameworks
