About the role

As a **GCP Data Engineer** , you will make an impact by leading large-scale data migrations and building robust cloud-based data solutions. You will be a valued member of the **Technology & Engineering** team and work collaboratively with cloud architects, data analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and cost-effective data platforms.

In this role, you will:

+ Guide a team to execute end-to-end data and application migration from SAS and Teradata to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

+ Design and maintain data architecture and migration strategies for current and future-state GCP environments.

+ Build and optimize scalable batch and real-time data pipelines using GCP services such as **Cloud Dataflow** , **Pub/Sub** , and **Composer** .

+ Configure and manage data storage solutions including **BigQuery** , **Cloud Storage** , **CloudSQL** , and **Bigtable** .

+ Implement data governance, quality control, and validation procedures leveraging GCP IAM and best practices.

+ Monitor and optimize data infrastructure for performance and cost efficiency.

+ Collaborate with cloud, data, and business teams to translate requirements into technical deliverables.

+ Maintain comprehensive documentation and automate workflows where possible.

Work model

Based on business requirements, this is an **onsite position** in **Hartford, Connecticut** . We strive to provide flexibility wherever possible and support a healthy work-life balance through our wellbeing programs.

What you need to have to be considered

+ 8+ years of data engineering experience in large-scale environments, including leading multiple data migrations to GCP.

+ Strong proficiency in **SQL** and **Python** .

+ Hands-on experience with GCP services: **BigQuery** , **Dataflow** , **Pub/Sub** , **Composer** , **Dataproc** , **Cloud Storage** .

+ Familiarity with SAS and Teradata environments, including tools like **bteq** , **fload** , **mload** , and **tpump** .

+ Proven ability to design and implement data governance and security best practices.

These will help you stand out

+ Experience with advanced automation and orchestration in GCP.

+ Knowledge of cost optimization strategies for cloud data platforms.

+ Strong communication skills to translate technical concepts into business insights.

**Salary and Other Compensation** :

Applications will be accepted until November 30, 2025

The annual salary for this position is between $ 90,000 - $ 115,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
