    Job Focus Area

     

    This exciting opportunity is for an Academics Director within the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE), specifically in the Office of Early Childhood – Strategy Division. This pivotal position provides functional supervision and leadership to staff supporting the preparation, improvement, implementation, and effectiveness of comprehensive classroom support for all academic strategy for Louisiana's early childhood systems.

     

    If you are passionate about ensuring every child is on track for success in kindergarten and beyond, you will be leading the charge on the academic strategy for the Early Childhood Strategy team—focusing on high-quality learning standards, curriculum, developmental screening, assessment, and effective instructional practices for the landscape of early childhood. Success in this role requires a candidate who is an expert in early childhood policy and who can effectively manage and align strategy across multiple teams and external stakeholders.

     

    The LDOE is dedicated to Louisiana's multi-year effort to unify its early childhood system and improve kindergarten readiness—a critical mission that drives long-term benefits for children.     Candidates with the following skills and experiences are encouraged to apply:

    + Deep, practical knowledge and experience in developing and implementing academic improvement strategies across the birth-to-5 continuum

    + Proven experience providing functional supervision, leadership, and mentorship to professional staff on complex educational initiatives.

    + Experience in making recommendations for, and developing and implementing, education policy and programs related to academic priorities, young children with disabilities, classroom improvement, and family engagement.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Nine years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

     

    Six years of full-time work experience plus six years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

     

    A bachelor's degree plus six years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

     

    An advanced degree plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    As theEducation Consultant Supervisor serving within the Office of Early Childhood Operations, you will:

    + Oversee the design, development, and implementation of all early childhood academic improvement strategy. This covers standards, curriculum, developmental screening, young children with disabilities, assessment, and instructional practice.

    + Advise the Division Director and executive staff on specific issues related to birth to five quality academic improvement strategy. Make recommendations for mandated and discretionary programs and policy related to classroom improvement and family engagement.

    + Manage collaboration across early childhood strategy teams, and other LDOE offices, to ensure alignment and effective delivery of LDOE's key education priorities.

    + Serve as the early childhood subject matter expert (SME). Represent the Division Director on key departmental committees (e.g., Teacher Leader Summit).

    Position-Specific Details:

    Appointment Type:Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.

     

    Career Progression:This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.

     

    Work Schedule:Workdays are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined.

     

    Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

     

    **Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series have a special entrance rate (SER) of $33.65 hourly, $2,692.31 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career andnot the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire .
