TEAM LEAD – FOLD DEPARTMENT
Reports To: Production Supervisor
ROLE SUMMARY
The Team Lead – Fold Department supports daily production operations for the announcement folding area. This role ensures machines are running properly, materials flow efficiently, associates have clear direction, and quality and safety standards are met. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced production environment.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead daily folding operations
• Oversee machine setups, productivity, and workflow
• Ensure materials, boards, and supplies are staged properly
• Assist operators with daily production needs
Support machine operation
• Set up, adjust, and operate folding/gluing equipment
• Make minor repairs and troubleshoot routine issues
• Verify quality, quantity, and specifications throughout the shift
Provide team direction
• Assign tasks to operators and material handlers
• Train new team members on equipment, safety, and quality checks
• Monitor work performance and support corrective action as needed
Manage material handling
• Use palette jacks to move materials and work-in-progress
• Track WIP and keep accurate production counts
• Maintain clean, organized work areas
End-of-shift responsibilities
• Secure equipment and complete required paperwork
• Ensure accurate reporting of production, scrap, and downtime
Other duties as assigned
• Support process improvements
• Assist leadership with daily problem-solving
WHAT YOU NEED
• High school diploma or GED
• One to two years manufacturing or production experience
• Prior team lead or leadership experience preferred
• Ability to operate production equipment (or learn quickly)
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Basic computer and data entry skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Function Time
Machine setup, operation, adjustments 30 percent
Directing team members & workflow 30 percent
Troubleshooting & minor repairs 20 percent
End-of-shift duties & paperwork 10 percent
Other duties as assigned 5 percent
Safety & housekeeping 5 percent
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting
• Regular use of hands and fingers to operate machinery
• Use of palette jacks and material handling tools
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Exposure to noise, heat, humidity, and production machinery
• Extended or irregular hours may be required
