Honeywell Aerospace is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to join the Materials Engineering (MatEng) Failure Analysis Lab at our Clearwater, Florida campus. This position is fully on-campus and involves extensive hands-on technical work. The MatEng group plays a vital role within Honeywell Aero’s Global Production & Engineering Services organization.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Apply your comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals to assist Honeywell in developing innovative solutions that address the evolving needs of our customers.
+ Collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals who provide technical expertise and ensure the successful execution of engineering projects and programs.
+ Conduct electronic component-level analyses of Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) specimens, utilizing advanced techniques such as Radiography (including Real-time 2D X-ray and Computed Tomography) and Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA).
+ Perform specific operations including, but not limited to:
+ Electrical measurements (resistance, capacitance, etc.).
+ Dimensional measurements.
+ Component de-processing methods such as de-capsulation, object mounting, cross-sectioning, and grind/polish.
+ Safely handle hazardous chemicals and operate potentially dangerous mechanical processes and equipment (e.g., band saw).
+ Interpret and adhere to military, industry, and internal standards and specifications, specifically including MIL-STD-1580, MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-750, and MIL-STD-202.
+ Meet with engineering personnel to thoroughly understand work request requirements and effectively interface with them to resolve technical challenges.
+ Clearly articulate technical concepts related to laboratory work and failure analysis through proficient verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ensure meticulous photographic documentation and prepare technical reports that logically convey analysis findings.
+ Record and report analysis results utilizing Honeywell's web-based Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software.
+ Conduct routine maintenance of laboratory analytical instrumentation and equipment.
YOU MUST HAVE
+ An Associate’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or a related technical field; alternatively, a high school diploma or GED.
+ **At least 2 years of hands on experience with Radiography and/or working with Electronic, Electric, and Electromechanical components in an engineering test laboratory.**
WE VALUE
+ Familiarity with chemical handling, storage, and safety precautions, along with awareness of safe laboratory practices, including proper procedures for handling, storage, and disposal of strong acids, bases, volatile solvents, and toxic chemicals.
+ Ability to interpret specifications and schematics.
+ Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
+ Proficiency with oscilloscopes, curve tracers, and multimeters.
+ Experience with Radiography techniques and cross-sectioning/chemical de-processing.
+ A working knowledge of electronic circuitry and components, including capacitors, resistors, transistors, inductors, crystals, transformers, relays, and LEDs.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
+ Self-motivation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative in task completion.
+ Capacity to make timely decisions amidst complexity, blending systematic analysis with decisive action.
+ Ability to thrive in a high-demand environment with frequently changing priorities and the simultaneous management of numerous projects.
