    Product Safety Specific Information (Product Safety Engineer Sr.):

     

    + The Product Safety department ensures company products meet global safety standards by integrating safety into design, manufacturing, and communication while managing risks and supporting compliance and liability efforts. An Engineer Sr. in this team will have the following roles and responsibilities focusing on compliance with global safety standards and ensuring accurate safety-related technical communication in product documents.

     

    Functional Safety Specific Information (Functional Safety Engineer Sr.):

     

    + The Functional Safety team ensures the safety and reliability of electronic control systems by adhering to international functional safety standards. An Engineer Sr. in this team will have the following roles and responsibilities focusing on functional safety assessments of complex software-based electronic control systems.

     

    Role & Responsibility

     

    + Align work to engineering strategic goals and objectives

    + Lead product and process development utilizing engineering principles, data analytics, and advanced methods to develop solutions that drive efficiency, performance improvements, and innovation

    + Use project management principles to develop project timelines, budgets, resource estimates, and risk assessments

    + Execute self-driven tasks and collaborate with team to meet project objectives

    + Identify roadblocks, determine root cause, develop multiple solutions, and collaborate to evaluate and implement solution

    + Effectively communicate technical information with cross functional team and stakeholders

    + Network with subject matter experts, cross-functional team members, and relevant external contacts such as suppliers and contractors

    + Influence team with effective communication, sound data, knowledge, and experience

    + Make fact-based decisions, gain team consensus, and provide input on project level decisions

    + Supervise and mentor student employees and oversee contractor activities

    + Resolve complex technical problems through strong understanding and application of engineering fundamentals and proactively develop technical knowledge and skills

    + Independently perform routine technical analysis, interpret results, provide insight into decision making, and contribute to project or initiatives within area of influence

     

    Job Requirement

    General Experience required:

    + Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Agricultural, Industrial or equivalent Engineering degree

    + Experience Required: 5-7 years

    + Travel Required: >25% annually

    + Follows and promotes safe workplace best practices during all work activities and equipment operation

    + Builds and maintains knowledge of applicable standards, regulations, laws and directives that affect the company’s products to ensure compliance and competitiveness

    + Collaborates with and supports Global NPD teams, global projects, and global suppliers

    + Familiar with Bobcat and competitive equipment

    + Experience with product design, testing and manufacturing processes

    + Applies advanced engineering principles and data analytics to drive efficiency and innovation

    + Open to mentoring and supervising 1-2 engineers or contractors

    Product Safety Specific Requirements and Duties:

    + Experience in Product Safety and Compliance activities.

    + Act as a key technical resource in reviewing and refining product manuals, safety signs, and safety communication materials, ensuring clarity and compliance with safety objectives.

    + Lead product safety risk assessments, providing detailed analysis and recommendations to mitigate risks in design and manufacturing processes.

    + Guide the integration of safety features into product designs during engineering reviews

    + Ensure products align with global safety standards and regulations, proactively addressing compliance gaps and documenting findings.

    + Represent the company in standards and industry groups or committees, contributing expertise to influence safety practices and policies.

    + Support the legal department in defending product liability claims by providing expert testimony, technical documentation, and investigation insights for accidents or machine fires.

    + Develop and enhance safety training resources, collaborating with team members to tailor content for internal teams and customers.

    Functional Safety Specific Requirements and Duties:

    + Experienced in application of functional safety standards for various products including ISO 19014, ISO 13849, ISO 25119, or ISO 26262.

    + Experience in conducting Machine Control Safety System Analysis (MCSSA) or Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA) including the identification, and understanding of Safety Control Systems (SCS) and determining functional safety performance levels.

    + Experience having taken one or more products from concept through the entire functional safety development process to production.

    + Experience with Embedded System Software Development preferred.

    + In-depth control systems and product knowledge preferred.

    + Contractor Management experience identifying external resources to assist with systems analysis.

    + Compliance Documentation Management - maintaining database of evaluations.
