Job Description:
Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone Orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.

JOB SUMMARY
This role provides engineering support for manufacturing operations based within the value streams. The role requires technical ownership to be taken for manufacturing processes, products, and equipment, while maintaining a focus on key business drivers, which include EH&S, Quality, Supply and Cost. This role provides process engineering and controls support. Plans and conducts activities related to the development of new processes including researching current and emerging technologies, evaluating process cost, quality, and capability alternatives, and performing process characterization and optimization using designed experiments, and problem solving and decision-making tools. As process owner, this role will involve collaborating with a number of functional groups delivering value stream projects, such as NPI and Manufacturing Engineering, as well as with suppliers and other sites within the engineering, science, and technology network that run similar processes. This position will foster opportunities, strong leadership, work ethic, and Credo-based behaviors.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
+ Designs comprehensive engineering activities to develop and implement effective, high-quality processes and design guidelines for dissemination throughout the division.
+ Provides complex design reviews and feedback for improvements in manufacturability.
+ Develops equipment, materials, and process performance requirements, performs vendor searches and equipment evaluation to ensure adequate capability to produce quality products in required quantities at effective costs.
+ Designs experiments and capability studies, develops process specifications, and designs and procures process tooling.
+ Analyzes new processes and equipment with the intent of achieving continuous improvement of present methods.
+ Communicates and monitors process and material quality targets.
+ Measures performance to targets and implements remedial actions as instructed.
+ Develops process documentation and training materials for new processes, materials, and equipment.
+ Support the timely execution of quality actions related to scrap, holds, audit, NCR, and CAPA
+ Support daily operations through attendance at pulse walks and the timely closure of actions.
+ Support of Internal Audit, External Audit, and NC action plans
+ Support attainment of key business metrics through the provision of engineering support for value stream processes.
+ Support elimination of safety and quality risks in the process through implementation of robust engineering solutions.
+ Actively promote a safety culture
+ Design & develop tools, fixtures, gauges, and special equipment for manufacturing operations in conjunction with toolroom technicians and outside vendors.
+ Provide timely and accurate reporting on project activities ensuring projects are delivered to agreed timelines.
+ Identify and lead cost and technical improvements under the department’s continuous improvement program.
+ Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
+ Responsible for mentoring entry level engineering team members and co-op students
+ Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
+ Performs other duties assigned as needed
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
+ A minimum of a university/bachelor’s degree in a technical curriculum is required
+ A minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience is required

+ Experience in medical device manufacturing is required
+ Knowledge of CNC is required
+ Must be willing to support all shifts
+ Must be present at the manufacturing site during regular business hours, minimum of 8 hours per day
RESPONSIBILITY FOR OTHERS & INTERNAL INTERACTIONS
+ This position will report to the Process Engineering Manager
+ This role will interact all functions in the Warsaw Supply Chain; including but not limited to the following: Shop Floor Associates, Process Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supervisors, Departmental Managers, and the Plant Manager.
+ This position may direct and mentor entry-level engineering team members and co-op students
LOCATION & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
+ This position is at the Warsaw, Indiana site. This is an on-site position. Travel will be rare, lower than 5%.
