    RESPONSIBILITIES

    I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provides administrative support to management as needed.

    • Works with department and referring physicians, their staff, patient families, health care team members and outside facilities to ensure services are coordinated and provided appropriately to the patient.

    • Provides financial assistance to patients in identifying resources to cover anticipated clinic and Medical Center charges not covered by health plan, insurance, or other sources.

    • Provides work leadership and technical guidance to staff to enhance operational efficiency.

    II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Essential: standing, walking, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, repetitive arm/hand motions.

    • Frequent: reaching below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object.

    • Occasional: sitting, stooping/bending, twisting body, lifting, pushing/pulling and carrying usual weight of 20 pounds of force, reaching at and above shoulder level, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.

    • Operates computer, printer, calculator, telephone.

    III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

    • Some exposure to communicable diseases.

    IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.

    • Ability to perform 7,200 adjusted keystrokes per hour.

    B. EXPERIENCE:

    • Two (2) years in admitting, business services, scheduling or related area, preferably in a comparable acute care facility.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of patient registration, admitting, third party payor and/or scheduling.

    • Knowledge of ICD-10 & CPT coding and medical terminology.

    • Prior supervisory experience and/or demonstrated knowledge and background to lead staff.

    • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
