Performs various Cath Lab tasks and functions in position of scrub technician, on-call member and Code 4 member.
Job Description
Essential Functions
+ Operate imaging equipment during Cath, EP, and structural heart procedures (pan table, rotate C-Arm, operate control panel inside/outside of procedure room);
+ Prep patient once placed on the procedure table. The type of prep will depend on the procedure being performed;
+ Scrub into and maintain sterile field/technique during procedures;
+ Under sterile technique, assist physician during procedure by passing supplies and instruments;
+ Pull venous/arterial sheaths post procedure and hold manual or C-Clamp assisted pressure to achieve hemostasis;
+ Transport patients to and from procedure area on an as needed basis;
+ Turnover and clean procedure rooms in between cases;
+ Use principles of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank you) to communicate/educate patients and their families prior to, during, and after the procedure;
+ Learn and become proficient at new procedures/techniques that may be incorporated into the Cardiology department over time.
Qualifications
Minimum Education Required
+ High school graduate or equivalent
+ Maintain BCLS certification
Minimum Experience Required
+ Two, plus (2+) years’ experience in hospital or healthcare related field (example could include PCA/PCT, Telemetry tech, Surgery Tech, EMT, etc.)
Required Skills/Abilities
Language/Communications Skills:
+ Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
+ Ability to communicate effectively in an emergency situation
Job Skills/Abilities:
+ Ability to scrub and operate imaging equipment for each procedure performed in Cath lab.
+ Basic knowledge of equipment frequently utilized in Cath lab.
+ Ability to hold manual pressure until homeostasis obtained.
+ Basic knowledge of all patient monitoring equipment.
+ Ability to respond calmly and efficiently in an acute situation.
+ Basic typing and computer skills.
+ Ability to take call with thirty (30) minutes or less response time to hospital for emergent after hour cases
+ Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology and techniques.
+ Ability to work with cardiologists and other staff members to create a positive team atmosphere striving to care for patients in a way that is consistent with Southeast Health’s mission.
+ Ability to learn sterile technique and wear lead apron for extended period during complex procedures.
