    This role provides academic advising to current students, potential majors, and minors, offering guidance on curriculum matters, major exploration, university policies, and non-academic factors impacting academic performance. Through one-on-one and group sessions, the advisor supports students in developing long-term academic plans and career goals, assists with course selection, and ensures academic, personal, and professional success. This role also involves discussing post-graduation opportunities, developing tailored strategies for career goals, and referring students to university resources, including psychoeducational assessments when applicable.

     

    This role is hybrid with on-site expectations in Ann Arbor, MI 3 days per week. You may work on-call hours. You may work during early mornings, nights, or weekends.     Responsibilities*

    + **Academic Advising**

    + Provide individualized advising on courses, degree requirements, policies, and academic planning for BBA and Business Minor students.

    + Support degree completion through ongoing academic planning and record verification.

    + Evaluate and communicate course applicability, including transfer and study abroad credits.

    + Conduct academic progress reviews for degree conferral and athletic certification (if applicable).

    + Advise specialized student populations (e.g., dual degree, pre-professional).

    + Maintain accurate, confidential student records in compliance with university policies.

    + **Student Success & Development**

    + Guide students in balancing academics with personal and professional goals.

    + Identify and address challenges, connecting students with campus resources.

    + Be primary contact for new students during orientation and provide early intervention for at-risk students.

    + Support students through emergencies, coordinating with faculty and university units.

    + **Collaboration & Program Development**

    + Collaborate across advising teams and units to deliver student programming and communications.

    + Contribute to orientation, workshops, and student success programs.

    + Partner with campus advising networks and support events such as welcome programs and commencement.

    + **Technology, Data & Assessment**

    + Track advising metrics, student progress, and outcomes to inform continuous improvement.

    + Maintain advising systems and assist with data collection, surveys, and assessment efforts.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Bachelor's degree

    + 2+ years of experience in a related field such as academic advising, counseling (academic, educational, or personal), student services, student records management, or mentoring college students.

    + Expertise in helping students develop academic plans, clarify career goals, and connect with campus support resources.

    + Proficiency in Google and Microsoft applications, plus other database, email and calendar-keeping software and technologies is required.

     

    Modes of Work

     

    Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.     Additional Information

     

    The posting range for this position is $52,900 to $65,300. This posting range reflects multiple factors involved in determining compensation, such as skills, experience, training, certifications, and other organizational needs. At Ross, it is not common for new hires to be offered a salary at the upper end of the range. Compensation decisions are based on the details of each situation.
