    The Production Design Engineer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting product designs that can be efficiently manufactured at scale. This role bridges the gap between design and production, ensuring that products meet quality, cost, and performance standards while aligning with company objectives.

    What you’ll do as a Production Design Engineer:

    + Convert CAD files into internal documentation and production-ready formats that align with shop floor standards and ensure manufacturability.

    + Drive cost-effective tooling strategies, including die purchasing decisions, to meet both quality and budgetary goals.

    + Optimize sheet layouts and collation strategies to balance customer specifications with material utilization and cost efficiency.

    + Work closely with production planning to inform routing decisions based on tooling limitations, equipment capacity, and operational constraints.

    + Partner with production and operations teams to resolve real-time manufacturing challenges with agility and cross-functional coordination.

    + Ensure all manufacturing instructions are complete, accurate, and easy to follow, minimizing the risk of production errors.

    + Standardize internal procedures and templates to improve instruction quality, reduce variation, and enhance manufacturing efficiency.

    + Establish and maintain accurate color curves between pre-press and production to ensure color consistency and quality.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    We’re looking for a Production Design Engineer with:

    + Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related experience.

    + 3+ years of experience in a production design or manufacturing engineering role.

    + Proficiency in CAD software and production documentation tools.

    + Strong understanding of tooling, die design, and material optimization.

    + Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

    + Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.

    + Experience with color management systems and pre-press processes

    + Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.

    + Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.

    + Experience in a print or packaging manufacturing environment.

    Physical requirements and working conditions:

    Our manufacturing Plant is comprised of enclosed office and manufacturing space. This position requires the ability to:

     

    + Move throughout the entire facility to attend to various issues

    + Work effectively in teams across functional groups with strong communication skills and the ability to lead

    + Perform sedentary work on various computer systems

    + This Production Design Engineer position is located on-site in our Dallas, TX facility
