    **PeaceHealth is seeking a Financial Clearance Specialist - Remote for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm.** The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $21.07 – $31.59. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

     

    Must live within a 30-minute driving commute from PeaceHealth's SSC building (1115 SE 164th Ave., Vancouver, WA)!

    Job Summary:

    Coordinates components of financial clearance. Includes pre-registration, insurance verification, prior authorization/notification requirements, and patient financial information. Informs the patient/guarantor of all financial liabilities and documenting pertinent information into appropriate systems. Communicates with patients, insurance companies, department administrators, physicians, and other departmental staff to ensure the ideal patient experience. Implements the Corporate Financial Counseling policy to ensure fair, thorough and consistent application of account resolution practices to promote corporate financial health.

    Details of the Position:

    + Verifies patient insurance benefits and checks for prior authorization and/or provide notification of admittance.

    + Pre-registers patients for scheduled services.

    + Manages daily assignments using standardized protocols and works queues to ensure timely completion of financial clearance in accordance with departmental processes and payer guidelines.

    + Maintains daily account follow-up as targeted by management.

    + Responds to customer inquiries in accordance with state and federal laws or applicable internal policies.

    + May receive and post patient payments

    + Assists with departmental coverage as needed.

    + Ensures proper billing procedures and privacy guidelines are implemented and carried out.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    What You Bring:

    Education

    + High School Diploma Required: or GED

    + College Coursework Preferred: Accounting or

    + College Coursework Preferred: Business or

    + College Coursework Preferred: Medical Technology or

    + College Coursework Preferred: Communications or

    + College Coursework Preferred: Social Work

    Experience

    + Minimum of 1 year Required: Experience in patient registration, insurance eligibility verification, prior authorizations, collections, customer service, billing or related medical field

    + Preferred: Familiarity with government, commercial and third-party billing

    + Preferred: Experience with Epic registration system

    + Preferred: Experience with Medicaid and Medicaid HMOs. Should have a working knowledge of CMS and other government programs. Demonstrates an understanding of managed care contracts and payer operations

    Skills

    + Proficient use of computers including MS Office applications (Required)

    + Proficiency with 10-key calculators (Required)

    + Working knowledge of standard office equipment (Required)

    + Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (Required)

    + Ability to work both independently and interdependently with staff and team members with limited supervision (Required)

    + Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills (Required)

    Working Conditions:

    Lifting

    + Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.

    + Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

    + Sedentary work.

    Environmental Conditions

    + Predominantly operates in an office environment.

    Mental/Visual

    + Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

    + The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
