    Archaea Energy, a bp company, is a leader in landfill gas to energy and the largest renewable natural gas (RNG) producer in the US. With big ambitions, we specialize in the development, construction and operation of RNG, landfill-gas-to-electric and dairy digester facilities. The team operates around 50 sites in 32 states with a robust development pipeline.

     

    About the role

     

    The Planning and Scheduling Lead is based in Houston, Texas and is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, reporting, and communicating the status of development’s capital projects portfolio. This role maintains the overall program master control schedule and provides assurance that the schedule development process and project progress data is developed and accurately reported in accordance with Archaea’s planning and scheduling and Earned Value Management guidelines. The role has a large and direct effect on the program accrued capex forecast and cash flow predictability. The role will provide contractor oversight. The role interacts with key stakeholders in Project Management, Project Controls, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operations, and Finance. The role will also be responsible for performance reporting utilizing Archaea’s internal dashboarding tool, Domo, and will work to integrate performance reporting data from project level.

     

    This role is a leadership role within the Development organization reporting to the VP of Project Controls.

    Key accountabilities

    + Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Project Managers, Project Control, Engineering Leads, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Operations team members.

    + Provides oversight to Contractor’s Engineering Home Office and Site Contractor Planning Teams

    + Function as the main point of contact for all day-to-day project planning related activity, schedule performance management and reporting.

    + Use performance data to provide timely project insights to project leadership team.

    + Apply schedule controls policies, procedures, processes, guidelines, tools, and templates.

    + Maintain compliance with Archaea’s Project Stage Gate Guidelines.

    + Ensure the development of appropriate baseline project schedules, with appropriate allowance, based upon stage gate authorization.

    + Utilize the work breakdown structure to monitor the schedule system.

    + Monitor appropriate performance indicators to validate project progress and raise performance issues.

    + Provide relevant & specific expertise to diagnose, investigate & overcome problems.

    + Develop, maintain, and monitor the overall portfolio schedule.

    + Develop and maintain schedule contingency drawdown strategy and reporting.

    + Identify risks / schedule threats and opportunities to improve schedule.

    + Develop and issue progress reports and forecasts to appropriate stakeholders.

    + Develop / Maintain stage gate deliverables related to schedules.

    + Support the project benchmarking process and facilitate preparation for aspects associated with schedule.

    + Make schedule performance information more easily accessible.

    + Provide leadership with forward-looking information identifying expected project schedule performance and comparisons against approved targets.

    + Supports the performance management of contractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery.

    + Ensure personnel and team compliance with Archaea’s Code of Conduct and models Values & Behaviors

    Essential education

    + Degree in Engineering, Business or Project Management or related field

    Essential experience

    + More than 15 years of relevant professional experience (within the Chemical / Petrochemical / Industrial / Refining / Production Areas) in Project Management or Project Controls

    + More than 5 years’ experience with leading people. Ability to coach, mentor and share best practice and knowledge is essential.

    + Excellent communication skills

    + Strong analytical skills with expertise in Primavera, MS Excel, Power BI, other data analysis tools to interface, influence, and work effectively with members of the Development Leadership Team

    + Advanced maturity and discretion in handling confidential and secure information

    + Ability to prioritize, liaise well with others, and remain calm to manage multiple demands and cope with change.

    + “Can do” attitude as a key team member with flexibility, enthusiasm, reliability, and discretion.

    + Treat obstacles as challenges to overcome.

    + Adopts and promotes a working environment of team excellence and respect.

    Desirable criteria

    + Onshore Project Experience

    + Good understanding of different methods of project / government financing / funding and legislation

    + Ability to harness use of digital tools to provide quality reporting information.

    How much do we pay? $126,700 - $181,000. *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.

     

    This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours of vacation per year for full times employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
