This role is responsible for supporting operational, safety, and quality objectives within the seed processing area at the Salinas Center. The technician will assist in executing key processes such as drying, shelling, cleaning, and quality inspections, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and good agricultural practices. Working closely with the Specialist and Supervisor, this position helps secure the necessary resources and supplies to meet team goals efficiently and effectively. Additionally, the role ensures seasonal workers perform their tasks with the highest standards of accuracy and care, contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates with other departments as needed.

What You'll Do:

+ Carries out all seed processing operation activities for every crop, from harvest through delivery to the end user, including but not limited to drying, shelling, quality inspections, and inventory management

+ Provides daily updates to the specialist, highlighting potential process issues and identifying root causes to help minimize errors

+ Follows established procedures for all assigned tasks to ensure the safety of self and others.

+ Support team members in the training and leading contingent workers.

+ Ensures processing operations run efficiently to achieve optimal performance metrics.

+ Always ensure regulatory compliance.

+ Manages and interprets research data collected or received in the area, making informed decisions based on data analysis.

+ Will support continuous improvement initiatives.

+ Offers ideas / suggestions for process improvement.

+ Maintains and promotes strong relationships with internal and external teams.

+ Re arrange daily work orders due to priority changes or absences during work peaks.

+ High seasonal turnover of workers requiring ongoing coaching and guidance

+ Establish processing priorities based on upcoming deadlines.

+ Choosing critical tasks when facing high absenteeism.

What Skills You Need:

+ Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of related experience.

+ Proficiency in computer data entry is essential.

+ Capability to supervise and guide part-time labor is required.

+ Proficient in English communication (verbal and written).

+ Ability to collaborate effectively within a multicultural team setting.

+ Strong organizational abilities and capacity to perform under tight deadlines.
