Job Description
The Director of TREC Program directs, administers, and assesses the college’s college-in-the-prisons (CIP) program (TREC (http://minneapolis.edu/academics/trec) ) in partnership with the MN Department of Corrections and Metro State University. The director coordinates college-in-prisons activities with various internal and external stakeholders, especially working with the Dean of Enrollment Management, to maintain the smooth functioning and high quality of this education program.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
+ Direct the college’s prison programs within the college’s Student Affairs and Academic Affairs divisions in order to maintain smooth functioning and high academic quality.
+ Supervise and direct department and contract personnel.
+ Develop and deliver prison programs in order to align with the college’s mission, vision, and goals as well as with the MN State’s strategic plan.
+ In collaboration with academic dean, work with faculty assigned to teaching in prison programs.
+ Maintain ability to access all MN Department of Corrections facilities where programming exists.
+ Proactively address the safety of all by raising safety concerns and making safety improvement suggestions.
Salary Range:
MnSCU Academic Supervisor 1: $30.55 - $44.24 hourly / $63,788 - $92,373 annually.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Two (2) years of professional experience in higher education programs and/or correctional setting. Bachelor’s degree can substitute for one (1) year of applicable professional experience OR an associate degree can substitute for six (6) months of applicable professional experience.
+ Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge and skills related to concepts, principles, standards, methods, policies, practices, and data related to prison education and higher education accreditation well enough to serve as recognized authoritative expert for the college’s prison program.
+ Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Supervisory and leadership experience.
+ Tested knowledge, abilities, competence, and experience to perform duties at a high level of expectation in higher education or corrections, working with administrators.
+ Demonstrated experience in national or local policies an regulations governing prison education and/or corrections connected educational programs.
+ Record of success in promoting a creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial team-based environment.
+ Experience developing and/or coordinating a system-level, multi-institutional partnership, collaboration, program or network.
Other Requirements
+ Must have an active and valid state-issued driver's license and, a working vehicle.
+ Employment is contingent upon a successful background check completed by the Minnesota Department of Corrections.
+ Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
+ Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position
Work Shift
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Telework
This position may be eligible for partial telework per the Minneapolis College's Telework Guidelines.
