Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior Legal Assistant to provide advanced litigation support to two attorneys specializing in first- and third-party auto and general liability cases. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-paced, high-volume, paperless legal team that values professionalism, efficiency, and continuous growth.
Work Arrangements:
This role offers flexibility with either a hybrid or remote work arrangement. All candidates must reside in the state of Florida. Those located near our main office in Lake Mary, FL will be expected to work onsite three days a week—Tuesday through Thursday. Candidates who live farther away will be considered for a remote arrangement, with the understanding that occasional in-office attendance may be required based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Independently draft, prepare, and e-file legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence using legal software.
+ Ensure compliance with Florida state court filing requirements and deadlines.
+ Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including court dates, depositions, and other key litigation milestones.
+ Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, mediations, and other legal proceedings.
+ Lead trial preparation efforts, including organizing exhibits, managing discovery, and preparing witness files.
+ Review and manage daily electronic mail and document production.
+ Process invoices and maintain organized electronic legal files.
+ Communicate professionally and diplomatically with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and internal teams.
+ Handle electronic documents in various formats (TIF, PDF, JPG).
+ Provide general administrative support including scanning, mail handling, file conversion, and photocopying.
Qualifications:
+ Minimum 5 years of litigation support experience, preferably in insurance defense or personal injury.
+ Advanced knowledge of Florida law and court procedures.
+ Proven ability to manage complex caseloads and support attorneys through all phases of litigation.
+ Strong proficiency in preparing pleadings, managing discovery, scheduling IMEs, ordering medical records, and maintaining Outlook calendars.
+ Demonstrated experience supporting trial preparation and proceedings.
+ Experience working in a paperless legal environment is highly preferred.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
+ Experience mentoring junior legal support staff is a plus.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$57,200 - $85,800
