    The Field Applications Scientist, Liquid Handling is responsible for working with scientists to understand their application requirements and help to adapt their workflows to the outstanding capabilities of our liquid handling and automation product portfolio. As a Field Application Scientist, you will conduct the applications support for Beckman Coulter Life Sciences Automation and Liquid Handling products.

     

    You will assess customer needs around specific applications and workflows pre- and post-sales and provide solutions on how to develop, implement and automate such workflows with Beckman Coulter’s product portfolio. This process includes scoping, method development, optimization, and troubleshooting of the automation and liquid handling protocols. Scientific as well as method programming expertise paired with great interpersonal skills will be utilized throughout the process. In this role you will actively promote the company’s products and services and act as the direct contact person for our customers when it comes to scientific and application-related questions.

     

    This position reports to the Central-Southwest Regional Manager Field Applications, Liquid Handling, and is part of the Customer Support, Field Applications North America team and will be working remotely to cover the U.S. Central Region.

    In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

    + Provide in-depth applications support across multiple scientific subject areas including drug discovery and genomics.

    + Understand the scope of customer projects and independently build, adapt, implement, and optimize liquid handling and automation protocols to improve customer workflows and provide customer training and support.

    + Support sales targets by partnering with the commercial team to provide high-level scientific and technical expertise.

    + Troubleshoot and diagnose advanced technical problems and serve as a liaison with service and internal customer support teams as needed.

    + Demonstrate leadership through mentoring new and developing FAS team members and/or peer associates in other departments, and act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

    The minimum requirements of the job include:

    + Educational requirements: Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of direct experience or Master’s degree or higher with 2+ years of direct experience in Life Science or related field of study.

    + Direct laboratory working experience with assays involving Compound Screening, Proteomics, Biologics, Molecular Biology, and/or Assay Miniaturization.

    + Advanced programming of laboratory automation workflows.

    + Protocol design, optimization, troubleshooting, workflow adaptation.

    + Experience conducting scientific and/or training presentations.

    Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/ Environment Requirements:

    + Must be located in Indiana, Texas or Kansas area, with the ability to travel with overnight stay throughout the assigned geography up to 70% and international travel, when required, sometimes on short notice.

    + Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

    It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

    + Technical or application support within an Automated Liquid Handling/Automated Workflow company

    + Fluent in coding and computer language(s)
