Position Summary:
The Infrastructure Financial Strategy Consultant will serve as a trusted strategic advisor and financial modeler for HCA Healthcare’s Infrastructure portfolio - including data centers, networks, hybrid cloud environments, and core technology platforms. Reporting to the AVP of IT Financial Strategy, this senior-level contributor will design and manage a forward-looking dynamic financial model that guides data-informed technology investment decisions.
This role blends financial strategy with deep infrastructure understanding, integrating Technology Business Management (TBM) principles, capital planning, and technical lifecycle economics to identify optimal decision points, such as cloud migration strategy, data center transition timing, hardware refresh strategies, or renegotiation of major infrastructure contracts.
The Consultant will collaborate closely with IT and Finance leadership – including the CTO, VP of Infrastructure, and CFO – to ensure infrastructure investments align with enterprise financial and operational objectives.
This is a highly visible, high-impact position that requires exceptional financial acumen, strong command of enterprise infrastructure technologies, and consulting-level analytical rigor.
Major Responsibilities:
Strategic Modeling and Analysis
• Develop and maintain a multi-year financial and technical scenario-based model for on-premises infrastructure, including total cost of ownership, capital and operational expenditures, depreciation, and refresh cycles.
• Model and recommend strategic scenarios and their financial implications, such as cloud migration timing, contract renewals, or infrastructure transitions.
• Provide recommendations and sensitivity analyses to inform leadership decisions on infrastructure modernization.
Technology Business Management (TBM) and Cost Transparency
• Evaluate infrastructure cost structures, enabling transparency across consumption, performance, and value.
• Collaborate with IT Finance and TBM teams to integrate model outputs into Cost Transparency reporting.
• Champion modernization of financial planning tools and data models to ensure agility and accuracy in scenario forecasting.
• Support the development of a financial governance framework for evaluating and prioritizing future infrastructure investments.
Executive Consultation and Financial Strategy
• Serve as a strategic advisor to IT Leadership, using clear and concise storytelling to navigate complex discussions.
Translate financial data and technical recommendations into actionable insights for non-financial or non-technical audiences.
• Influence infrastructure investment strategy and policy by presenting data-backed recommendations.
• Partner closely with the CTO and VP of Infrastructure to model strategic investment trade-offs and quantify the financial implications of architectural decisions.
• Partner with Finance and Strategic Sourcing to time infrastructure contract negotiations and optimize financial outcomes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Collaborate with IT Infrastructure, Service Management, Architecture, CloudOps, and Finance teams to ensure alignment between financial and operational priorities.
• Drive cross-functional working sessions to validate assumptions and build consensus around model outputs.
• Act as a connector between finance and technology disciplines, ensuring a shared understanding of cost, value, and risk across the enterprise.
• Practices and adheres to the Code of Conduct philosophy and Mission and Value Statement.
