    Vascular Surgery Step-Down Unit - J81

     

    J81 is a 25-bed surgical telemetry unit featuring private patient rooms. The unit primarily cares for individuals with vascular diseases and disorders. Common diagnoses include acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT), extremity ischemia, abdominal aortic aneurysm, and peripheral ulcers.

     

    The unit manages a high volume of post-operative patients, including those recovering from thrombolytic therapies, amputations, peripheral bypass procedures, and vascular grafts or stent placements. Patients frequently present with comorbidities such as hypertension, diabetes, renal failure, and coronary artery disease (CAD).

    A caregiver in this position works day/night rotation, 7:00am-7:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am.

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Collect, document and report patient data and observations.

    + Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.

    + Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.

    + Perform routine laboratory tests.

    + Educate patients and family members.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Graduate of an accredited Practical or Vocational Nursing Program

    + Current Ohio licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

    + If in ED, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross within one year of hire in ED settings

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + One year of patient care experience

    Physical Requirements:

    + Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

    + Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

    + Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

    + Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

    + Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

    + Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    + Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    + Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

     

    Pay Range

     

    Minimum hourly: $23.25

     

    Maximum hourly: $33.50
