Job Description
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI or Austin, TX three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business if more than 3 days].

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data-driven culture. You'll be responsible for architecting, building, and maintaining state-of-the-art analytics platforms including Power BI Premium on Azure Fabric, Tableau Analytics on AWS, and Cognos Analytics on Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) to name a few.

What You’ll Do
+ Design and develop scalable, secure, and reliable analytics platforms on Azure and AWS, leveraging container technologies for efficient application deployment and management.
+ BI platforms administration, management and operations, including data modeling and report authoring best practices using Power BI, Tableau, and Cognos.
+ Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, implement GitOps workflows, and establish CI/CD pipelines for platform components and applications.
+ Develop API integration, data extraction, transformation, and loading to Databricks DB SQL
+ Create data source connections and installing data source drivers (JDBC, ODBC)
+ Implement comprehensive DevSecOps practices, including regular security audits and vulnerability mitigation.
+ Establish robust observability solutions, implement disaster recovery and high availability designs to ensure platform reliability.
+ Manage identity and access management, implement security compliance measures including password/token rotations and key vault integration.
+ Implement Gateway connections for accessing on-premises sources, optimizing platform performance and cost-efficiency.
+ Organize resources using a domain-driven approach, implement FinOps practices and resource-level cost chargeback mechanisms.
+ Participate in on-call rotations, demonstrate customer focus, and drive results in ambiguous project scenarios.
+ Implement Policy as Code and Compliance as Code to automate policy enforcement, ensure consistent governance, and compliance with industry standards & regulations.
+ Influence change, naturally accept ownership for project deliverables, explore opportunities to add value to job responsibilities
+ Ability to define and propose innovative solutions to business problems and projects that may begin with ambiguous requirements and requests
+ Self-starter with the ability to influence others, working in teams and independently with leaders and stakeholders across many different organizations within Software and Services
+ Ability to communicate complex concepts in simple and visual terms
+ Effective time management skills to balance workload across multiple simultaneous projects and meet deadlines proactively and independently
+ Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer science or related field
+ 7+ years of experience in platform engineering or similar roles
+ Deep understanding of at least two of the three platforms – Power BI, Tableau, and Cognos analytics platforms
+ Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, container orchestration technologies and cloud operations for business analytics platforms
+ Strong expertise in Azure cloud services, particularly Cognos Analytics on ARO, Azure Kubernetes Service, and PBI service on Azure Fabric
+ Experience with GitOps workflows and tools (e.g., Terraform, ArgoCD)
+ Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, especially Terraform
+ Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools, pipelines, and scripting for automation
+ Hands-on programming skills in Python or Scala for API interaction and data processing
+ Ability to work with various data formats (e.g., JSON, YAML)
+ Strong SQL skills with the ability to perform advanced DML operations
+ Familiarity with Databricks Lakehouse ecosystem (e.g., DB SQL, Workflows) and database technologies (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle)
+ Experience and knowledge on application and platform performance optimization
+ Solid understanding of DevSecOps practices, tools and codifying policies & compliance
+ Experience with OAuth 2.0 and Microsoft Entra (Azure AD)
+ Knowledge of data governance and security best practices
+ Ability to define and propose innovative solutions to business problems and projects that may begin with ambiguous requirements and requests
+ Strong skills in monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
+ Experience with identity and access management in cloud environments
+ Knowledge of FinOps principles and cost optimization strategies
+ Excellent problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills

Compensation:
+ The expected base compensation for this role is: $134,000 - $205,000. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
+ Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
