Description:
Accountability Objectives:
Performs in the role of expert practitioner and educator within a specialized nursing field or practice area; educates and develops staff to attain essential job competencies; participates in quality improvement and research activities; consults with clinicians on complex cases by request.
Minimum Education, Licensure / Certification and Experience Required.
A. Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required, Master's Degree in Nursing Education preferred
B. Licensure / Certification
• Current RN licensure in the State of Michigan.
• Certification in specialty area preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required if working in Critical Care or Cardiac area.
Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor certification within 6 months of hire. Advanced Life Support instructor certification required for areas of clinical practice that staff certification is required, within 6 - 12 months of hire.
C Special Skill / Aptitudes
• Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.
Solid understanding of health care standards, technologies, practices, and applicable state and federal regulations and accrediting agency requirements.

Leadership and management skills necessary to foster the growth and development of direct reports, motivate individuals and teams, and resolve problems in a diplomatic professional manner.
•
Interpersonal and relationship management skills necessary to effectively develop and foster collaborative working relationships with all levels of staff/management/leadership, influence results, and garner support.
•
Excellent oral and written communication, persuasion, negotiation and presentation skills. The incumbent must be able to clearly articulate and demonstrate commitment to care, and the mission and values of the Region and to inspire active support.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills necessary to conceptualize ideas in an unstructured, fast-paced, dynamic and multifunctional environment requiring creativity, innovation, foresight, and mature judgment.
•
Willingness to operate in • a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of CHE Trinity Health.

• Knowledge of Adult Learning Principles.
D. Experience
Three years in clinical nursing practice in Adult General Medical/Surgical and/or Adult Critical Care/Emergency and/or Maternal Child Health and/or Surgical/Peri-operative area or other specialty nursing practice experience required.
•
Previous educational experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, preceptor, unit educator, central nursing education role or academic clinical instructor preferred.
