Our client is seeking a Desktop Support professional to join their team. As a Desktop Support specialist, you will be part of the User Support Service supporting the IIT User Support Services team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a customer-focused attitude, which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title:** **Desktop Support
**Location: Madison** , WI
The Desktop Support role reports directly to the IIT User Support Services Manager and works as part of the User Support Services (USS) support team. The Desktop Computer Consultant will be responsible for providing routine first- and second-level technical troubleshooting, as well as determining and implementing solutions for more complex issues by leveraging documented procedures. This role requires delivering a high level of customer service to support the mission and technology needs of the institution.
Required Skills
+ Strong knowledge of computer software, operating systems, hardware, and networking.
+ Experience with **Microsoft Active Directory** is required.
+ Proficiency in hardware and software troubleshooting.
+ Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
+ Demonstrated experience in providing professional, courteous, and customer-focused technical support.
Additional Skills:
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Three or more years of relevant experience working with **Windows 10/11** .
+ Experience using ticketing systems such as **JIRA** .
+ Two or more years of relevant experience working with **macOS/OSX** .
+ Knowledge and experience in **computer security** .
Job Responsibilities
+ Complete installations, configurations, repairs, automations, and modifications of complex technology hardware, software, and related components independently.
+ Identify, troubleshoot, resolve, and/or escalate complex first- and second-level technical issues under general supervision.
+ Receive and respond to inquiries, providing detailed and accurate technical information through various communication channels as per established procedures.
+ Document all inquiries and responses and make recommendations for procedural improvements to unit leadership.
Job Title in Contract: Desktop Support IV
+ Must have **10 or more years of experience** in desktop support.
+ Familiarity with a broad range of concepts, practices, and procedures in the IT support field.
+ Relies on extensive professional experience and sound judgment to plan, prioritize, and accomplish goals.
+ Capable of performing a wide variety of tasks independently.
+ May serve as a lead and direct the work of others.
+ A high degree of creativity, flexibility, and autonomy is expected.
