Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Fisheries Engineer with over 15 years of relevant experience, ideally as a civil or mechanical engineer. This role requires a current P.E. license in the Pacific Northwest or California, with the ability to obtain licenses in other states. The candidate will lead engineering design teams, manage client services, develop business, and negotiate contracts.
Responsibilities
+ Lead and manage engineering design teams to deliver successful fisheries engineering projects.
+ Provide excellent client service and engage in business development activities.
+ Prepare and price proposals, and negotiate contracts for work.
+ Collaborate with multiple disciplines to execute projects related to fish passages, hatcheries, and systems on dams.
+ Drive project delivery with an established book of business in the Northwest.
+ Engage with clients, the public, and various agencies including Native American tribes and the US Army Corps of Engineers.
+ Oversee heavy structural projects related to fish passage, ensuring regulatory compliance.
+ Manage hatcheries projects, leveraging expertise in wildlife and fish management.
Qualifications
+ 15+ years of relevant experience in fisheries engineering.
+ P.E. license in the Pacific Northwest or California.
+ Experience leading and managing engineering design teams.
+ Proven success in client service and business development.
+ Experience with fish collection, transport, screening, monitoring, and hatcheries.
+ Strong regional experience in west coast fisheries issues.
+ Hydraulic, mechanical, and project management expertise.f
+ Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental engineering degree or experience in Biology.
+ 12 years of experience preferred, but 8 years considered.
+ Experience with fish elevators, passages, dams, and project leadership.
+ Ability to work with diverse disciplines including structural, mechanical, electrical, biology, and hydraulics.
Work Environment
This role offers a flexible work model, ideally with the candidate coming into the office a few times a week. The position is not fully remote. Occasional travel throughout the Northwest for client and project visits is required, with travel scheduling at the candidate's convenience. Preferred locations include Washington, Oregon, Idaho, or California, but candidates from anywhere in the US will be considered.

This is a Permanent position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $160000.00 - $200000.00/yr.
Stantec standard benefits including 10 paid holidays
