Survey Technician
Job Description
As a Survey Technician, you will be accountable for the actions and productivity of the field crew, as well as the operation and maintenance of survey equipment. You will work directly with the Survey Manager in the development of proposals and coordinate with clients on existing projects. Your role will involve assisting the Survey Manager in managing field crew members, typically ranging from 3-8 people.
Responsibilities
+ Calculate and upload/download data points in GPS monitors and mapping equipment.
+ Read and comprehend construction drawings and calculate construction layouts.
+ Work collaboratively with design engineers, clients, safety officers, and the public.
+ Plan and execute an efficient scanning/survey workflow.
+ Ensure compliance with all Construction Site OSHA rules.
+ Participate in required company training programs.
Essential Skills
+ Surveying and land surveying expertise.
+ Crew scheduling capabilities.
+ Proficiency in GPS and survey equipment.
+ High School Diploma or equivalent.
+ 3-5 years of experience in a civil engineering or surveying office.
+ 3-5+ years of experience in boundary research and field staking.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Expert knowledge of survey equipment, GPS, and robotic hardware.
+ Familiarity with survey programs and 3D scanning software.
+ Experience in construction and civil engineering.
+ Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
+ Field leadership qualities to manage crews and represent the company on job sites.
Work Environment
This position is with a small, family-owned business that values personality, kindness, and teamwork. The role reports directly to the Survey Manager and involves travel to job sites daily. You must be willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. The work hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with occasional Saturdays as needed. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lincoln, NE.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $50.00/hr.
