Job Title: SAS Technician II - Systems Technician
Job Description
The role involves managing laboratory operations while working directly with engineering teams on the assembly, integration, and testing of optical inter-satellite link systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in opto-mechanical systems and the ability to develop and document technical procedures.
Responsibilities
+ Perform assembly, integration (including fiber splicing), and testing of optical communication systems.
+ Work closely with engineering teams to support product development and testing.
+ Create and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
+ Build and test first article units.
+ Support laboratory operations and maintain test equipment.
+ Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including optical, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
+ Execute test procedures and record results with high attention to detail.
+ Assist in troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in opto-mechanical systems.
+ Proficiency in creating technical documentation and procedures.
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
+ Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
+ 2+ years of experience in optical systems or related technical field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate's degree in Electronics, Photonics, or related technical field.
+ Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (preferred).
+ Experience with optical communication systems.
+ Knowledge of clean room protocols.
+ Familiarity with laser safety procedures.
+ Experience with precision alignment of optical components.
+ Experience in aerospace or satellite communications.
Work Environment
Onsite in Redmond, WA. You will join a specialized team responsible for high-precision optical metrology in the Optical Inter-Satellite Link (OISL) program. Work involves ISO-certified cleanroom environments with state-of-the-art interferometry, surface profilometry, and wavefront analysis techniques. This position provides unique exposure to advanced optical fabrication processes and cutting-edge metrology equipment, directly impacting the performance and reliability of space-based optical communication systems. Collaboration with optical fabrication engineers, systems engineers, and quality assurance teams is essential to maintain manufacturing excellence and drive continuous improvement in optical measurement and characterization processes.

This is a Contract position based out of REDMOND, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
