Job Title: Junior Civil EngineerJob Description

Join an award-winning architecture and engineering firm as a Junior Civil Engineer. You will work on municipal projects in the Metro Detroit area, primarily in the City of Pontiac and occasionally out of the Waterford office. This role involves engineering, construction, and design assignments, with a focus on soil and concrete observation, testing, and documentation.

Responsibilities

+ Perform engineering, construction, and design tasks on various municipal projects.

+ Conduct soil and concrete observation and testing of water, sewer mains, and manholes.

+ Document and report all construction project activities.

+ Perform analyses and design required for projects.

+ Prepare sketches and diagrams for field technicians and review/check drawings and layouts.

+ Assist in the preparation of contract/proposals specifications and construction cost estimates.

+ Review subcontractor shop drawing submittals.

+ Perform construction monitoring and coordinate field activities.

+ Assist in transportation engineering within the municipal project sector (roads, drives, etc.).

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

+ 3-10 years of civil engineering experience on municipal projects.

+ Proficiency in CAD skills including AutoCAD, Microstation, and/or Civil 3D.

+ Experience in municipal plan review.

+ Experience in grant permitting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ EIT or PE certification is a bonus.

+ GIS experience is advantageous.

Work Environment

Work hours are typically 8am-5pm. The company fosters a strong culture that encourages collaboration and celebrations among small office teams. While the preference is for team members to be in the office most of the week, there is flexibility for candidates who do not require training, allowing for 1-2 days remote work or site visits. The Waterford office has a team of 31 people.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waterford, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
