    Job Title: Quality Lab Technician

    Job Description

    The primary responsibility of the Quality Lab Technician is to provide quality testing of extruded material in accordance with customer requirements and the Aluminum Standards Association guidelines. The role ensures that activities are performed and documented according to quality requirements. The position involves operating tensile testing equipment safely and accurately, adhering to measurement techniques, and conducting quality inspections on aluminum materials.

    Responsibilities

    + Provide quality testing of extruded material in line with customer requirements and Aluminum Standards Association guidelines.

    + Operate tensile testing equipment safely and accurately.

    + Use measuring techniques with micrometers, calipers, and routers to ensure adherence to tolerances.

    + Conduct quality inspections on aluminum before, during, and after processing.

    + Retrieve and document data per customer specifications using Epics (extrusion software).

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality concerns.

    + Maintain a clean quality lab and manufacturing area.

    + Promote the highest quality product, supporting the Quality Management System.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Essential Skills

    + 3+ years of quality control experience or 1+ years with a Scientific or Engineering degree.

    + Familiarity with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.).

    + Demonstrated understanding of ASTM Standards.

    + Good organizational skills and technical capabilities.

    + Basic computer skills.

    + Good basic math and communication skills.

    + Ability to work with minimal or no supervision.

    + Task prioritization abilities.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Manufacturing or machine operating experience preferred if no quality control experience.

    + Scientific or Engineering degree in material science, biology, chemistry, mechanical, or chemical fields preferred.

    + Ability to demonstrate good organizational skills and technical capabilities.

    Work Environment

    The work environment is a mechanical lab that may contain oil, sawdust, and metal chips. The work can be messy. Shifts include a graveyard shift (Monday-Thursday, 9pm - 7am) and a day shift (Monday-Thursday, 7am - 5pm). Training includes 3 weeks on the graveyard shift as a Saw Helper/QC and 3 weeks on the day shift as a Lab Tech. Personal protective equipment such as ear plugs, eye protection, safety gloves, and metatarsal boots are provided.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Coburg, OR.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $23.50/hr.
