    Role Purpose: Performs dynamic and static tests in accordance with government regulations, regulatory body specifications and manufacturing requirements.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    + Plans sequence of testing and certification procedures for instruments (crash test dummies) and equipment.

    + Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and certify other instruments and test equipment.

    + Communicate with laboratory supervisor and manufacturing on a regular basis to insure rapid resolution to issues and consistency of applied methodologies.

    + Input data information and utilize data acquisition systems to perform system checks and data collection for ATDs.

    + Maintain the physical lab and equipment related to the calibration laboratory. This activity includes general housekeeping as well as maintaining a program for all required equipment to insure continued tractability to and compliance with ISO/IEC Guide 17025.

    + Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.

    + Measures parts for conformity with specifications.

    + Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts.

    + Reassembles and certifies instruments and equipment.

    + Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.

    + May be required to participate in a Company’s internal audit system as an internal auditor.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Other Significant Role Requirements:

    Language Ability:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    Math Ability:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Computer Skills:

    Knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Internet software.

    Education and/or Experience:

    + Minimum HS diploma or GED required.

    + A two-year technical degree (ASME) or equivalent from an accredited technical institution is preferred.

    + Demonstrable equivalent experience in the instrumentation discipline or a related field will be considered.

    + One to three years of related experience in a laboratory environment is preferred.

    + Prior Experience in an ISO/IEC or A2LA certified laboratory a plus.
