Position Summary
We are seeking **dedicated Utility Operators** to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be trained to operate equipment associated with extrusion and tube mill processes, handle aluminum products, and support various departments across the facility. This is a hands-on position ideal for individuals with mechanical aptitude and a strong work ethic, offering excellent growth potential and comprehensive training.
Key Responsibilities
+ Operate and assist with extrusion and casting equipment
+ Support tube mill operations across multiple shifts
+ Perform machine operation, quality checks, packing, and inspection tasks
+ Rotate through departments to gain cross-functional experience before specializing
+ Monitor equipment and report any unusual conditions to lead operators or supervisors
+ Adhere to all safety protocols and union guidelines regarding shift flexibility
+ Lift and move materials using proper lifting techniques and hoists
+ Maintain productivity and collaborate with team members to meet daily goals
Required Skills & Qualifications
+ 1–2 years of experience in general labor, production support, or manufacturing
+ Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machine operation
+ Experience with hand tools, assembly, packaging, and quality control
+ Ability to lift 15–50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally (with assistance)
+ Willingness to work all three shifts as required by tube mill operations
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Ability to learn forklift operations
Work Environment
+ Non-climate-controlled facility with exposure to loud machinery
+ Tube mill operations run 10 12-hour shifts, 6–7 days per week, with one weekend off per month
+ Work involves exposure to grease, oil, hydraulic fluids, and both robotic and legacy equipment
+ Flexibility is required due to union agreements governing shift assignments

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.31 - $20.31/hr.
