    Job Title: Welding Inspector

    Job Description

    Inspect material quality using automated ultrasonic testing (UT) methods for manufacturing operations. Perform UT methods as a certified NDT Level II technician. Conduct daily process controls, calibration checks, and maintain accurate records according to quality program requirements. General housekeeping and preventive maintenance are essential to ensure safe and reliable operation of the UT equipment. Communicate effectively with customer contacts and outside inspection agencies to explain NDT inspection methods.

    Responsibilities

    + Inspect material quality using automated UT examination.

    + Perform UT methods as a certified NDT Level II technician.

    + Conduct daily process controls, calibration checks, and maintain accurate logs per quality program requirements.

    + Ensure general housekeeping and preventive maintenance to maximize productivity and ensure safe and reliable operation of UT equipment.

    + Communicate NDT inspection methods to customer contacts and outside inspection agencies.

    + Set up and calibrate automated NDE equipment.

    + Assist other UT technicians with conventional UT hand scanning when needed.

    Essential Skills

    + Ultrasonic testing, welding inspection, and NDT inspection skills.

    + NDT Level II certification and a minimum of two years of NDT experience.

    + Strong mechanical background and aptitude for electronics and computer-based UT systems.

    + Experience with general hand tools, measuring equipment, and specific NDE-related instruments.

    + Knowledge of applicable codes and specifications relating to quality requirements, accept/reject criteria, and written instructions or procedures.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + High school diploma and Level II UT Certification or documented UT inspection hours.

    + Five years of NDT experience is a plus.

    + One to three years of experience with API products is desirable.

    + Previous experience within a pipe mill environment is preferred.

    Work Environment

     

    Work in a manufacturing facility located in the heart of Pennsylvania's Marcellus Shale region, specializing in large diameter steel line pipe. The plant is extremely loud and dirty, so candidates must be comfortable with these conditions. Uniforms are provided. The role involves working with welding machines which produce fumes. The facility operates on a first shift schedule from Monday to Friday, with some Saturdays required. An attendance system is in place, and adherence is crucial.

    This is a Permanent position based out of STEELTON, PA.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
