Director of Revenue Cycle Management
Position OverviewThe Director of Revenue Cycle Management is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial billing, collections, and reimbursement processes for St Croix Hospice. This role ensures accurate and timely billing, maximizes timely cash collections, maintains compliance with Medicare & Medicaid regulations, and drives the overall financial performance of the organization’s revenue cycle operations. The Director will lead a team of billing and collections professionals, establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and implement best practices to ensure efficient, compliant, and optimized revenue and collection operations.
Essential Functions and SkillsResponsibilities
+ Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of all Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial billing, collections, and revenue cycle activities within St Croix Hospice.
+ Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing revenue cycle team focused on accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
+ Monitor and report on key revenue cycle metrics, including Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), cash collections, denial and appeal rates, billing accuracy, and AR aging.
+ Establish and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and monthly collection goals to ensure optimal cash flow and financial performance.
+ Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations governing Medicare and Medicaid billing for hospice care, including timely submission and correction of claims.
+ Collaborate with clinical, financial, and operational leadership to address revenue cycle barriers and streamline processes.
+ Identify and implement process improvements, automation tools, and system enhancements to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
+ Engage and communicate with long-term care and skilled nursing facilities to understand and resolve any billing discrepancies in accordance with contractual payment terms.
+ Oversee reconciliation and audit processes to ensure accurate and complete revenue capture.
+ Develop and present monthly and quarterly revenue cycle performance reports to executive leadership.
+ Stay current with Medicare and Medicaid hospice billing regulations, CMS updates, and payer trends to proactively adjust processes and maintain compliance.

+ Demonstrate executive presence, with solid communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other teams and departments, including finance, operations, and clinical teams
+ Proficiency with EMR and billing systems (e.g., HCHB, Netsmart, or similar hospice/home health billing software)
Qualifications
Requirements/Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in finance, Healthcare Administration, Business or related field.
+ 7+ years of experience managing a revenue cycle or billing team in a healthcare setting, preferably hospice or home health.
+ 10+ years of hands-on experience with Medicare billing, claims processing, and collections.
+ Strong knowledge of Medicare hospice reimbursement rules, eligibility, and compliance standards, preferred.
+ Proven track record of managing and improving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and monthly cash collections
+ Advanced Excel skills.
+ Ability to pass DHS background study
The starting salary range for this role is $125,000-$150,000 annual base salary. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on, but not limited to: geographic location, relevant education, applicable certifications, depth of experience, and special skillsets.
The total compensation package may include employee benefits such as medical/dental/vision/pet insurance, disability and life insurance, paid time off, and 401(k) retirement plans, subject to applicable plan terms and eligibility.
