    Job Description:

    WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

    Provide customer service for Regional Fleet Management. Assist with the management of fleet operation for the Region. Manage the Regional Fleet Programs for motor vehicle registrations, operational and organizational maintenance, vehicle emergency safety equipment, issue, use, and inventory. Accountable for ARC gasoline and minor maintenance cards, enforcement of authorized use of ARC vehicle, vehicle sales, accident, recovery and claims, and formulation and compliance of fleet budgets. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

     

    Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations

    WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

    1. Assists as required with emergency situations that involve vehicle breakdowns and repairs of fleet assets.

    2. Maintains DOT vehicle maintenance and required inspections in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier

     

    Safety Regulations and ARC directives.

     

    3. Assist as warranted in covering blood drives during emergency situations.

    4. Ensures that Mobile Unit vehicle assignments are adequate blood drive coverage relative to out of service

     

    units.

     

    5. Assist with the scheduling of vehicle maintenance and ensure accuracy of vehicle assignment, dates and

     

    times.

     

    6. Coordinate fleet repairs with Regional Departments and Districts and that work is done in a timey manner.

    7. Ensures the accuracy of the fleet data base.

    8. May Renew vehicle insurance cards and ensures that vehicles requiring County emission tests arecompleted on time.

    9. Ensure that all vehicle decals and licensing remain current.

    10. Performs other duties as assigned.

    11. May assist with the periodic movement of vehicles within the region.

    Scope

    May work under the guidelines of the division director or other management. May assist in the preparation of annual region-wide Fleet budget.

     

    May participate in the monitoring the annual budget for variances.

     

    Assists in tasks to assure compliance of state/federal regulations.

     

    Help to ensure the safety of our vehicles and staff by ensuring vehicles are maintained for optimal performance.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

    AA degree in business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Minimum of three years experience in vehicle fleet management.

     

    Must meet DOT Physical Qualifications and Examinations.

     

    Must possess valid Class A-CDL.

     

    Must have ability to perform DOT road-tests.

     

    Public health or blood banking

     

    experience in a highly regulated setting preferred.

     

    Ability to work independently.

     

    Excellent organizational skills.

     

    Effective oral and written communication and interpretation skills.

     

    Good interpersonal skills to work with multiple levels of staff and management. General knowledge of computer programs.

     

    Must be able to periodically travel to move fleet, perform fleet inspections, or other fleet related tasks.

     

    Competencies

    Essential Functions/Physical Requirements

    The duties are representative of the essential functions of the position. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. May have to sit for extended periods of time. May have to load or unload

     

    trucks lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Must be able to drive throughout the region.

     

    Exposure levels are based on the essential functions as stated in this position description; however, in some instances, variances may occur due to the applicable nature of this position within a particular work site.

     

    Therefore the work site may determine the exposure level to be greater than or less than the below stated level.

     

    This position is an Exposure Determination 2 in view of the fact that the incumbent occasionally, on an unplanned basis, is required to work under conditions where the potential exists for the incumbent to make contact with blood or blood components.

    WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE (Preferred Qualifications):

    Attention to detail.

     

    Familiarity with automobile maintenance.

     

    Ability to perform minor auto repairs.

     

    Work well independently.

     

    Manage changing priorities.

     

    Excellent communication skills.

     

    Must be able to work in Excel and ability to use Fleet Management software & Fleet inventory software.

     

    Prior experience in the management of fleet vehicles.
