Description
A Clinical Support Associate – Enhanced Care Management (CSA-ECM) is part of the Enhanced Care Management Unit within the Medical Management department. The CSA-ECM reports to the ECM Program Manager and is responsible for providing coordination support to the clinical teams, assisting with daily operational functions, facilitating efficient work processes, and performing clerical tasks for the ECM unit. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role. The CSA-ECM ensures accurate and timely data entry and collection and interacts with other Health staff, providers, and members. Additionally, the CSA-ECM is responsible for processing authorization and referral requests.
• Respond promptly to inbound calls in the Health Services’ phone queues.
• Make outbound calls to providers, members, and Health staff regarding operational processes.
• Communicate any conflicts or issues with members or providers to the immediate supervisor in a timely manner.
• Maintain confidentiality and protect member information in compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality laws and regulations.
• Adhere to Health’s mission, protocols, policies, and procedures, ensuring performance standards are met.
• Attend company-wide and department meetings and trainings on time, actively participating when appropriate.
• Respond to emails, phone calls, and other communications in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
• Maintain professional interactions with Health employees, members, and providers.
• Support the daily operational functions of the ECM/CS program, ensuring timely work processes and performing necessary clerical tasks.
• Collaborate closely with Case Management (CM), ECM/CS teams, and internal departments regarding ECM/CS activities.
• Manage the call queue, providing support to members, ECM/CS providers, and internal departments concerning ECM/CS referrals and provider reassignment.
• Oversee the ECM/CS referral intake process and ECM provider assignments.
• Conduct follow-up calls with members and providers to ensure timely access to ECM/CS services.
• Organize, schedule, track, and monitor member contacts efficiently.
• Assist with mailings related to ECM/CS, including member assignment and authorization approval notifications.
• Accurately enter authorization requests and submitted documents into the system.
• Act as a liaison between clinical reviewers, providers, and members.
• Ensure accurate entry of billing and diagnosis codes, service categories, amounts, frequency, and other service details.
• Process authorization requests in accordance with established timelines.
• Prepare, edit, and finalize written determination notices for providers and members.
• Assist with mailing ECM/CS Notices of Action (NOAs) as requested.
• Support the ECM/CS Program Manager with data tracking and other requests.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while actively participating as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Openness to receiving constructive feedback and using it as an opportunity for personal and professional growth.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology, billing (CPT), and diagnosis (ICD-10) coding.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
• High attention to detail, ensuring accurate and clear recordkeeping.
• Ability to complete tasks within established regulatory timelines.
• Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute.
• Effective collaboration with individuals from diverse backgrounds and educational levels.
• Ability to prepare grammatically correct, clear, and concise written communication.
Preferred:
• Basic knowledge of Medi-Cal and the services it covers.
• Familiarity with health-related community-based organizations, healthcare delivery systems, and resources for low-income and elderly populations.
• Bilingual in Spanish (preferred, but not required for Utilization Management roles).

This is a Contract position based out of Santa Barbara, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
