About this Job
This position is located in Baton Rouge, LA
Office of Early Childhood Operations
Job Focus Area
This is a high-impact opportunity for an Education Consultant 1/2/ 3 to join the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) within the Office of Early Childhood/Strategy Division. The primary purpose of this role is the strategic development, oversight, and evaluation of key statewide child care quality improvement initiatives and contracts, including as the subject matter expert responsible for managing the state's Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) agency contracts and leading improvement strategies. Your work directly contributes to LDOE’s mission of strengthening supports and services for childcare providers and ensuring high-quality interactions and instructional practice in early childhood education.
Success in this position requires expertise in program development, contract management, and strong fiscal oversight, as you will monitor and authorize the allocation of state and federal funds for child care support initiatives. A key competency is the ability to drive instructional improvement, serving as the subject matter expert for effective professional development focused on curriculum, screening, assessment, and developmentally appropriate practices like CLASS. What makes this role unique is its blend of strategic development (defining project goals for RFPs and developing implementation plans) and hands-on direction (managing CCR&R).
Joining the Strategy Division means becoming a critical part of the team dedicated to maintaining high-quality early childhood services through targeted initiatives and strategic alignment. If you are driven to improve teacher-child interactions, enhance child care support systems, and manage significant statewide programs to ensure compliance and effectiveness, this role offers a chance to profoundly shape early childhood education across Louisiana.
Applicants with the following experience are encouraged to apply:
+ Direct experience leading, managing, or developing improvement initiatives for specialized support services, with a major emphasis on Child Care Resource and Referral work within early childhood settings.
+ Experience partnering or collaborating with large early childhood networks (like Ready Start Networks) to develop strategic plans, design new support processes, and provide direct technical assistance to local education authorities and instructional leaders.
Minimum Qualifications
Five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus two years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus one year of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.
